My thinking on the 3024 is that 60 hp is alot to ask from a 2.2 liter diesel. I have two in service, a 3024 and a 3013, both came from the factory set up to run high idle at 2800 rpm, to obtain listed horsepower. To me, in a motor this compact, there is only so much room for bearing area on rods, mains, and something has to give if motor is run hard. A few years back, this type of horsepower came from motors almost twice as big. They would wear out after 5-10 thousand hours, they would seldom break. There is a difference. The first thing I did on both machines was detune about 15% rpm- I am hoping it helps.
