I hear you on "pull off the mast", but how much pull did a 600 have single line? They were mostly for handling mid size truck tows. I believe the booms on the old Freightliner above were 750 extendable booms. That's a lot of extra leverage against the mast.

Super deluxe body too. Big time! Having towed with a 750 and an old Weld Built the way they’re made it’s not as bad as you think. I missed out years ago on a late 60’s international with a 750 that was a one owner. Been kicking myself in the arse over that.....

Love the old Holmes.

We had shorter WB sleeper cab tandems in SLC when I was there with Gelco. Stack sat in concave corner of cab and had that damned round exhaust ball socket connection that never sealed. Still have the WF radiator fill/air intake cover door off the first wreck I built as a glider in 1977

Agree RZ . Those sure look like 750 booms on Freightliner with the 600 Holmes .

All the 600 & 650 Holmes beds in my area had the " Web " style non extend booms . Not sure if they offered extendable booms as an option on that series ?

Talking about pulling off the mast …. With snatch block positioning you can pull dang near any direction . Ernest Holmes was a genius ! :cool:

Had to adjust the " camber " angle on a customers spray rig & weld back . :)

750 was 25 so 12.5 per boom IIRC. Those do look like 750’s on a smaller bed now that you mention it. A drag winch on there would be handy. An old Brockway I used to run for a friend had a drag winch. About a 1/4 mile of cable it seemed like. Came from Maine. I guess when they go off the road up there they go waaaaaay off!!

Looks like a Hagie 280/284. My sympathies to the owner.
