Hi All,

Heres a pic of my 50b after a 2yr 2 mnth and 4 day rebuild (wife was counting) All done at home
It had when I bought it rebuilt engine, deisel injector pump & new hydraulic pump & shaft

I had to repin & bush the machine, straighten and weld quire alot of bent & cracked bits, rebuild all hydraulic cylinders all new hoses a bit of wiring work and of course a respray in yellow.

Its amazing how many dodgy bodgeups we done to this thing over its life.

Here's ours. A 1967 White Oliver 2-78-15. 2 wheel drive, 78 HP, 15 foot max. digging depth. Engine rebuilt over the winter and a new coat of old Cat yellow. Rare, rare, rare!

MY dad and grand dad had one of these oliver backhoes, wish they hadn't have had it! It slid off the trailer when my dad was unloading it and fell on him and killed him.

Evening all,

Not my backhoe, but Council's road maintenance unit, the two crew wanted it secured so they left it just inside my driveway over a weekend and I took these images.

Had they brought it closer I would have given it a good pressure clean down at my workshop, still it was doing good work and respected as a versatile and valuable machine, hope you enjoy the images.

Sometimes I wish I had a sideshift and narrow legs but sometimes I wish my legs would be longer for more stability. Those narrow legs should feel quite unstable while working off the sides.

Hi all and yes the vertical stabilisers are not going to give as much support, especially when the hoe is right on one side.

A funny comment from the operator as he learnt the machine (he came from another area of work) was that as he was chucking some soil one way with the extend out it lifted the opposite leg, so he reversed the boom which kicked up the other way and as he wobbled back left and right he couldn't find the urgent solution and dumped the bucket on the ground to stop the rock 'n roll.

The sideshift layout is handy but it does need respect when using it as you said. :)

NEW JCB MIDI CX

The Wife is at the wheel in two Pics.
She's getting it down. Why should I have all the fun?

about 45 hours on it at time of pics. that's why I'm taking a pic of the dirty floor in one shot. It killed me to get it dirty so soon.

Thanks for the heads up. This JCB has a Pistin on it( just like the ones on many Car trunks and SUV hatches.. That's as far open as it goes and it does not swing because of the Piston.

I was a JCB operator for 30 years. Believe me the piston for holding the door open will not prevent the door from being damaged. A sudden lurch will make the door try to close and if it does that at the wrong time you will find out how expensive a new door is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:drinkup:D

OK then, anything more than a crawl, the door gets closed
