Nice job though I don't want to seem persnickety, but the back brace needs little more meat to grab on the sides on the weld up under there. Tie into existing weld.
Might be the angle I don't know, just a thought on what I seen. Hate it to crack with road vibration and go to take a step out only to get down faster than planned.

Was told really did not need the brace but added anyway, also welded on the back side, notably heavier/uglier!!

Building usable steps on a truck or reworking the throttle peddle is one of those deals were you always use it but wonder if it should be different ?

That's good and one does need it to prevent sway and it collapsing from doing so.

Really sucks to have one Known Bad eye, then to have the better one take a dump. Welds look like it too, but will live with what made. One week from Cataract surgery then NOTHING for at least five days but behave.

Well been sitting thinking on Battery Box, have the one from OE on this bucket, built the tool box from scratch using a wreck's battery box (still had lid bots and bolt holes). So being as was UNHAPPY with the aftermarket Batt Box I dragged this one into shop, Throbbed out the dents, stripped to where could sane and dress up some, is currently painted and drying. Will go on as weather warms a tad and can park alongside the shop door.

What Started with, Upper flange and back had hell of a dent. Chipped up and Filthy. Lid is just done.

So far after trip to Carwash for scrub up. And throbbing out the dents. Had a partial roll of Edging softener and a assortment of Plastic Push Plugs to fill unused holes.


Just prefer This one as something is just 'Off' with the Aftermarket piece. IF should ever grow a wild hair, this one at least has the bolting Rivnuts for the Hood Extension inserts as does the other side.

Next on agenda, clean up Step Brackets. already have enough replacement bolts for everything.

The dreaded KW battery box cover, the absolute dumbest design ever. Even if nothing is wrong with the electrical system even PM's suck when you have to check/clean batteries. Stainless bolts and big stainless fender washers to cover the rot around the holes is a good ghetto fix for company trucks, but I'm sure yurs'll be lots more better. Oh I almost forgot "hey dude this wire's smoking disconnect the battery" good luck

Almost--Freightliners Cascadia battery/step cover is even better, big torx head bolts. Unless anti-seize is
used those will freeze and torx head grind out. Remove with skinny wheel.

Swapped boxes this morning, new step I had bought is odd size so ended up rehabbing Both drop supports but on, also had to re-enga battery hold down, 1 1/2” angle iron both ends for tie down bolts.
Weather to turn to crap tonight so will enga two back braces for the tool box lid, soon as weather acceptable will install those.

Yeah the lid retainers on these as well the RH Tool Box layout leave much to be desired. Latching could be more effective, work easier and better lockable if considered for theft, entire structure of layout easier to access or utilize, seems lost to mediocrity components. Kind of like the near to 20" step length, OK for gorillas as most us guys, hard to manage for smaller female types and they are gaining numbers in the industry.

Big bad day tomorrow, likely NOT be on here awhile as leave eye to heal up a few days. Cataract surgery 6:20 am. Supposed to be done by 8:30 but not putting money on it. First patient of day so I HOPE they are at least as awake as I am at that time of day.

I would rather have a early surgery, the surgeon and OR room staff are fresh.

It took between 40 minutes and a hour for mine . One thing that realy bothered me was i like to see face to face some one i am dealing with. I never got a good look at the Doctor that did my cataracts because my eyes were both dialated the first time i was there and the operation day my good eye was covered up and it was during the mask years. I drove my self from the farm to my house that night i could see alot better after the first one was done.
