Squamish Mills Shop

I rode up to Squamish today and took some shots of this old 848 parked at the Squamish Mills Shop. The mechanic inside smiled and said it was for sale. There's lots of log hauling going on from what I can see down by the dry land sort. Busy times for some, it would seem, though there were several highway trucks parked at this shop - no work for them.

Hi new member here HDX put me on to this site. worked for inland kenworth for 20+ years and have lots of info about canadian built kenworths. The first 848 kenworth was sold to JW Robson sn was 80019 and was 1956 with SFD4640 rear diffs and the last one built was serial number 85842 and was 1970 sold to Bolster Transport in FT st John. The model before the 848 was a 524 which had SW456 worms in it . Was a little smaller. Hope this helps. Larry

Marine Engineer,
It's a water tank for cooling the brake drums when loaded.

I am looking for advice\help on a set of planetary axles ( Clark BD-91 ) that came out of a 850 Kenworth that was used to haul sugar cane. The axles came with wheels but no rim spacers (5-1\8 wide) or the double hole wedges. The width is 10.5' hub to hub.My problem is finding these parts,is a Goodyear #SB5124M the correct part and where can I find wedges new or used?
Are there any of these trucks for sale, that could be used in the oilfield, and worth rebuilding to help move drilling rigs?
I really enjoy everyone's posts on these trucks, very cool!
Thanks Mike

MIKEMT 14:00X25 Bridgestone, GoodYear Michelin. any of those tires BUT It only fair to warn you that right now in Canada we are paying about 2600.00 per tire for Bridgestone/Michelin However there is a couple chinese tires now available and they are Triangle and Hilo They are about 1000.00 per tire cheaper but I know for a fact that they dont last at least in our enviroment Sidewalls have a habit of blowing out This could be very well caused by the heavy loads being carried and of coarse the heat buildup. I think you have access to 14:00X24 tires through US Military surplus but they wont last due to the age of them now If you were going to use the truck as a truck show/parade truck then I wouldn't think twice about using the 14X24s on it The Dayton Rims will fit on the hubs only difference is the 14:00X25 is a stepped Rim as opposed to the 14X24 standard rim Hope this helps

Hi Mike I havent been on for a bit but HDX is rite look for 1400-25 rims and tires the 24 rims are hard to get everybody up here went to 1400-25s as for the rim clamps i will reply this week with all the part numbers for the studs and the nuts and the single clamps u dont need the double clamps they were just a option in the day. As for the wheel spacers you can use 51/8 or 5 1/2 we went to 51/2 as the hubs got worn out and the inside wheel had to go on a little further. Do u have the serial number of the 850 or any pictures. I will get the part numbers for u this week. Thanks

The axles came with 14.00 x 24 and I have 3 new tires so I might as well buy 5 more to match.
I located a company that has spacers ( 1\2" thick ) and wedges but they are expensive. There is no way to find a VIN#\info except from the axle part#.
How were the 850's set up? What type of spacer\wedges did they use?
How heavy were the loads?
Thanks Again for your help!

Hi Mike Here are the part numbers that u need they are made by Euclid industries nothing to do with euclid trucks just the same name they are a huge jobber company reproducing parts The wheel clamp is E5885 the nut is E4963 and the stud is E4956a I have lots of stock but u should be able to get them at any truck shop if they dont stock euclid they can cross them over to what ever. These are the part numbers that they use up here common. Did u get 1400-24 rims with the boogies or are u going to have to get rims too. Larry

Hi Larry, I did get 14.00x24 rims. The parts #s you gave me worked! Now if I can only determine which spacers are correct, the Goodyear spacers are only .156 thick. With loads up to 150,000 lbs will they be strong enough or should I buy the 1\2" spacers?
Thanks Larry
