Hello All,
I am getting ready to dig into my 73 580B with shuttle problems, mine is a little different then what I've been reading on here. Some of the same characteristics are wont move when cold, weak in any gear other than in 1st and sometimes just wont move!
My transmission pressure gauge is reading in the high red, if I push the clutch it will drop to low red but will never be in the green. Last week it stopped moving for me, the only way I could get it to move was to feather the clutch very slightly with my hand while playing with the throttle. I adjusted the linkage from the clutch pedal to the valve to where it would drive again but now I am out of adjustment from the 3.1 inches it is suppose to be. When I start it up, it goes into the high red, I put the outriggers down and let it warm up with the wheels spinning but even after half hour I have to feather the clutch to get it to move on its own. Once its warm it will go pretty decent but it takes forever to get there. I have changed the fluid and filters 3 times in the last 2 months and there is no sign of debris in the filter, there is moisture in the fluid though. Also, until I adjusted the clutch the metal lines running to the cooler would vibrate so bad I had to wear ear muffs around that thing as it was absolutely defining.
I bought this machine this summer with a bad engine, the old boy I got it from said it stopped going years ago ( around 2002 ) and he had a friend replace something in the transmission ( he didn't know what it was ) and got it partially back together. It sat uncovered with many of the lines off until I got it this summer 2018.
I have read a lot about the pick up tubes, but would it still go good when its warm if the tube was plugged?
Has anyone ever had the gauge reading high in the red?
Currently if I adjust the clutch pedal so there is 3.1 inches like the book calls for it will not move.
Thanks a million for any help on this.
WHERE DO I START?? WHAT DO I DO??
