Questions for guys using the LR 60 on their excavator

Has anybody tried or know anything about the Trimball GCS Flex system? It's a lot more expensive than the LR 60, but might be worth it.

Questions for guys using the LR 60 on their excavator

I'm thinking of buying an LR60. Are you guys really happy with the grade you are able to keep with this detector? Is it realistic for me to believe I could dig to +/- 1/4"? I'm really anal about my grade and am rarely satisfied with how promptly and accurately my grade guys give me...

Can't get my 312CL to warm up to operating temperature.

So I believe I have gotten to the bottom of it! I put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and got the temp to rise according to the infrared thermometer. The gauge still didn't show it. So I called tech support at the local Cat dealer and found out if I grounded the grey wire on the...

Can't get my 312CL to warm up to operating temperature.

Today I moved dirt for half a hour. The cab warmed up nicely, but the gauge still didn't come into the operating range. Took an infrared shot in the heater vent which was 122. The temperature at the water jacket next to the temperature sending unit made it up to 154 and the top radiator hose...

Just to satisfy Turfblazer, I promise I'll move a couple piles of dirt around tomorrow! :)

Can't get my 312CL to warm up to operating temperature.

I put the old thermostat back in the pot and heated it up. It's opening around 165 which is pretty close to the 160 it's designed for. I took the machine out and ran it for a little while this morning as I was summoned to a coke spill where a semi dump rolled over on an on ramp. I loaded the...

Can't get my 312CL to warm up to operating temperature.

No, I was just trying to verify that it would match the new one.

Can't get my 312CL to warm up to operating temperature.

Happy New Years Folks! Looking for any ideas you guys might have concerning my current headache. My 312CL doesn't want to warm up to operating temperature. Seemed like a no brainer, must be the thermostat is stuck open right? Ya, never seems to be that easy for me. Took the old thermostat...

Best way to drain all of the coolant out of a 312 cl.

I made the mistake of pouring a half gallon of green antifreeze into my 312. As soon as it got to the level where I could see it, it was strawberry red and I knew I screwed up. Some say they're both ethyl and it should be ok, some say don't do it. I don't want to take any chances. (Never...

    D3B pinion removal question.

I wish that were the case. The pinion shaft sticks through the main case and I can't even see the nut because the steer clutch and brake drum are in the way. I was hoping it would be possible to take it off without pulling the steering clutch out. But, it doesn't look promising right now. A...

    D3B pinion removal question.

Guess I should have said I'm speaking of the final drive pinion and not the one that matches up with the bevel gear.

    D3B pinion removal question.

Anybody know which hoops you have to jump through to get the nut off the pinion gear shaft on a D3B? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The shop manual says, "remove the pinion", seems as though they left out a huge part of the story. Pretty sure there are a bunch of you guys that know...

DOT regulations for loading equipment while parked on the road.

I was rear ended while in the process of side loading an excavator on the trailer with lights and four ways on, in the day light with half a mile on unobstructed view. Just wondered if I was doing anything wrong.

    D3B drive problem

If I'm pushing a blade full of dirt and want to turn to the right the left track will stop driving. If I want to turn left, the right track will usually spin if the load is too great.

    D3B drive problem

My D3B stalls on the right track under less load than the left track especially after it warms up a little. It has wet steering clutches. Does anyone know what is causing this. I'm hoping for an adjustment instead of tear down! Please send your thoughts. Thanks, Mike

    Cat D3B drive question

What is causing the right side drive on my D3B to stall under a lighter load than the left side. I'm hoping it's just an adjustment, but I'll have to live with whatever you guys can tell me. Thanks

    New septic flooded

Do they allow you guys to install aeration tanks, filtration, and chlorination or UV treatment so you can treat the waste to low BOD,TSS, and pathogens and then discharge it to a road ditch. This eliminates the need for alot of space. Imho, 200 lf is sure to fail unless water use is really...
