Just bought a Case 580K (early). Need info./manuals.

I have an 87 580K that had many of the same issues. The first thing I did was go to town cleaning the machine, change all the fluids and filters, replace bulbs, fuses, apply dielectric grease to as many connectors as I could, this fixed a few issues and revealed a few more. For the seat I...

    a few 580 Questions

Many of the electronics on my 87 580K didn't work when I got the machine; the operators and service manuals are extremely handy for this. I replaced all of the fuses, bulbs(warning lights) cleaned and applied dielectric grease to all the connectors in addition to replacing the batteries, this...

    Service manuals?

I bought a 580K service manual on ebay from a place called Techmedia, it was some where near $200(much cheaper than my local dealer quoted me) and got the operators manual through the local dealer. I'm using Case transaxle fluid in the rear diff, the front diff calls for Case(or equivalent)...

backhoe novice with a few questions

I'm pretty new to TLBs, I bought an 87 580K last summer and have been very happy with it. Get every option/feature you can on a machine, the more a machine has, like a thumb, extenda-hoe, 4 in 1 bucket, multiple digging buckets, etc. the more versatile it is. Maintenance, with regard to the...

    anyone here own a 580k

I have an 87 4x4 extendahoe, It's been good to me so far. As far as electrical issues go, most things work except a couple gauges, mostly blown fuses or bad bulbs. It does seem sluggish compared to my neighbors 1990 Cat 416 4x4; I ran around all day moving dirt piles in second gear in the Cat...

Opinions on a perspective Cat 416

CM1995, it seems to be pretty well cared for and operates well(except for the noisy brakes). I will be looking for an equipment mechanic. Thanks for the input

Opinions on a perspective Cat 416

A couple more pics. A few things I forgot to mention before, it looks like there is some leaking around the left brake linkage on the rear axle (see pic) and the right tie rod has some play in it.

Opinions on a perspective Cat 416

There is a 90 Cat 416 4x4 backhoe that I'm seriously considering making an offer on and would appreciate any opinions and or advice/thoughts. I'm a newbie with construction equipment, I am familiar with most agriculture equipment how ever so it's not all that foreign to me. The basic machine...

    Caterpillar vin number decoding

I'm checking out a Cat 416 and trying to find what year it is. I have the vin number, wouldn't this tell me? Where can one decode the vin number on these machines short of going to the dealership. Thanks in advance.

    Stihl Chain Saw

Stihl saws have always done well by me, very reliable and pretty tough; that said I've never had any issues with any Husky stuff, the Stihl is just more familiar/comfortable to me. I learned on a Stihl 036 which was passed down to me from my father that I still use regularly. I've also put in...

Crown Point Bridge Demo - Lake Champlain

Cool vids; I grew up in Vermont, crossed that bridge all the time headed for the Adirondacks during summers. It would have been nice to see the demolition(and clean up) in person.
