Too late , the local store here has had to order about half of any filters I wanted for the last 6 months and it was stuff they normally kept 6 of in stock .
I ordered a part from a tool warehouse in Fresno Cal last week normally overnite took 7 days, Fed Ex guy said it set in Troutdale Wa. terminal 5 days because they don't have enough people to unload trailers.
Bob
I've had the same thing happen- a lot of FedWrex coming here goes through Troutdale and sits. I just had one that sat in Los Angeles for 6 days.
I ordered some construction screws from an outfit in Kalispell that went Kalispell>Great Falls>Memphis>Lewiston and was here in 3 days.

Filters, marker lights, brake drums you name it I triple the order. Plus I constantly order
two weeks ahead of time. For me I'm not worried about too much inventory-It will get
used eventually.
I don't think "how many do you need?"--- "all of them" is a bad business plan now.
Keeps the fleet in-service.

Checking on 4 roll up canister doors for my garage/workshop/truck bay- both Janus & Wayne Dalton say could be 4-6 months out.

I'm going to shout at the clouds here.
Just venting
Long post
When I bought this property and moved it was very clear there was bad feelings about "Californians" and "costal libs" coming to the area and trying to change things. I had to prove that I was "OK". I read it all the time about "blue state" folks coming to "red states" and "bringing their values". Tshirts with "Idaho we're full, f off" & "Idaho - we've been social distancing since 1889".
So, here's the deal-
My property is at the very end of a little over a mile of gravel road, privately maintained
Total of 9 large parcels
I specifically did not consider purchasing any property that had CC&R's or HOA, been there done that never again.
Leave me alone.
A parcel, about 1/2 way in, sold a little over a year ago to a woman from Baltimore - warning sign #1
She's pretty pushy and east coast aggressive - warning sign #2
Remember the rocket story I told awhile back? She told one of the neighbors that if one landed on her property she would sue them - BIG warning sign #3
I pushed snow for her this winter so she could get in, no charge, just being a good neighbor. Within a day she wanted to use my garage to work on a project she was doing. Uhhh- just because I'm friendly doesn't mean I'm your friend. Small warning sign
Last year she asked if I knew contractors she could "interview" to build her house. Told me she would "bird dog" them to make sure everything was being done right. Warning sign #4.
Since I've "proved" myself I get lots of gossip around the campfire- she's managed to tee off a lot of local businesses. I've seen 15 or so contractors come to her site, construction hasn't started yet. Read the tea leaves there.
Sooooo.....there's the background
Last week she stops me on my way to the mailbox in the mini truck- tells me she has macular degeneration and educates me on it (yeah, I know all about it, don't need an education- mom has it for the last 15 years) then says she can't see to pull out and wants the mailboxes moved. Ha, good luck with that the first mailbox there has been there for like 40 years.
I have proof I told her if the Postal Service required it I will move my boxes to a staked location. Done, right? Seemed reasonable to me.
Last week she lets me know she is putting together a "community meeting" at her place (she's living in a travel trailer), she will be serving iced tea and discuss "the mailbox situation and solutions". Yeah, go pound sand. Warning sign #5
Turns out she has been to the local PO and pushed for the federal regs and get them on her side. Warning sign #6 (use the power of the gov't to get your way- pretty sure we hate that in red states?).
The meeting happens, I figure no problem nobody will show up and it will die on the vine.
Wrong
The long time natives I had to "prove" myself to are all-in!
She comes up yesterday with a 3 page "Executive Summary" of the meeting and "Course of Action" with bullet points & pictures and everything. Going to build some fancy "community common mailbox structure" like in some hoity-toity gated community.
Don't touch my mailbox. I'll move it when the location is staked.
4pm 105° I'm grouchy aaaannd she may not like me so much now.
So, this is to all the red state folks spewing sh!t about blue staters invading from someone who escaped from those areas- THIS IS HOW IT STARTS!!!!!!!! She won't stop with this.
I'm not 'proving' myself ever again, you can kiss my sweaty.....
Rant over

Oh yeah, Crummy is going to be getting a bill for $26,572.13 pro rated quarterly, for a approved, licensed and bonded road maintence contract, decided upon by the community betterment group. You can't just be blading the road yourself!

She's just looking out for your best interests Crummy.

And you better get that mailbox moved.

For sure she'll screw up the road maintenance. I've been doing it for 2 years now, fixing potholes & washboard, hauling gravel in the dump truck at my cost no trucking. Not demanding payment, kind of like the farmers that leave produce at the road and a coffee can for $$$. My closest neighbor is an incredible baker- she bakes me cookies, coffee cake, bread all the time. Good enough.

What's that old phrase-a good fence makes?

The same type of crap happens when people move to close to government facilities Like the Firing Center {military}. Years ago folks moved into Badger Pocket built
their custom homes then decided the tanks at the Firing Center were too loud. They tried to no avail to get the center to move. Same thing with farming years back.

What is it about the north east that grows such irritating, in your business, micromanage everybody’s lives type people?

easy now. While I agree that may be the case for a good portion of the northeast, here in maine we deal with the same stuff. As a rule we pretty much mind our own business and help our neighbors out when we can but we still have the same troubles when someone from “away” moves in. We get large influxes of people from Massachusetts and Connecticut who want to flee from that lifestyle and of course buy a nice piece of waterfront property. Now the average working man will never afford waterfront property and those who do have to deal with all the BS that they bring with them.

Same problem where I live. We have an absurd number of large lakes in my area and we are too close to Chicago. Weekenders (or F.I.P.s) snatch of lakeside cottages, tear them down, build expensive houses and then create "Lake Associations" to protect their investment. Locals can't afford to live on half the lakes around here anymore because of outsiders driving the real estate value sky high.

My best friend is east coast aggressive NOT like her, we've had many discussions on the matter over drinks. Nothing wrong with it, you just have to watch and be ready to act fast. Get in their face OK, don't you are a victim.

She used the "it's for safety". Works every time. She has and openly uses her macular degeneration as a reason for moving the mailboxes- mom recognized she was a hazard to others and gave up her drivers licence. End.
Yesterday with one of the "conservative" neighbors I get "well, if it's for safety...". She-Can-Not-See-Even-If-The-Mailboxes-Are-Moved!!!!!!
The woman told me "people speed on Leitch Creek road and I'm afraid I will get hit". Garunf'nteed she's been to the local sheriff office with an "Executive Summary" that they, by law, can't ignore. I haven't seen LE on this road since I've been here. That will change and the locals will wonder what happened. For everyones safety you know....
LOTS of shooting happens here, garunf'nteed she will have a problem with that. Now I have ABSOLUTELY NO confidence that the "conservative" 2A-from-my-cold-dead-hands folks here won't give me the "well, if it's for everyone's safety..."
Rural America is the greatest place to live on the planet Earth. Friendly, helpful, free, everyone is welcome. When the camel sticks it's nose under the tent I stop being nice.
