First of I'm new at This computer stuff, so please have patience. I've been running excavator for only 5 years, before that i ran loader for about 6 years so you can see I'm still relatively green compared to most of you. I work in commercial site work and road building in new england. I pretty much stay away from residential work as people are generally a pain in the you know what up here. As far as hobbies I guess my job is my hobby.

5 years on a hoe and 6 years on a loader, I would hesitate to call that green :wink2 . You gain alot of expierence in 11 years. Feel free to share. :yup

Name is Nick owner of Grading co. in red clay Ga. Been in business for 10years . equipment we use daily cat 953 bobcat t250 for mostly house pads every once in while we do landscaping just what ever brings the money.

I am a new landowner.
Over the last 3 years I have purchased 120 ajacent acres, all located 6 miles in the carson national forest in the mountains. My dream.
I have absolutely no heavy equipment experience.
I have an interest in hunting and improving my land.
I also want to run a road thru my property to have more and easier access to it.
I intend on buying a dozer before too long and need to learn as much as I can before purchasing one.
I think I have found the right site.

My name is Ernie. I was raised on a small ranch and have been working with farm and heavy equipment for about 40 of my 55 years. Nothing big. Two of my sons and I own an excavating business. Mostly residential pads, septic systems, driveways, rock walls. A few years back we used to do some high tensile deer and cattle fencing (drilled and drove wood posts using a JCB hoe with a custom made frame for a rock breaker & drill motor). We currently use a 312 Cat, 420E Cat, and a 212SU JCB. We're small so a lot what we need or use in the way of attachments we make or modify ourselves. I'm sure you guys do much of the same. We have found for us that not owning any trucks-not even transports- has been very economical for the past several years. I appreciate finding a rich site like this one with a lot of experience that you guys have in mechanicing. We can't afford hiring dealers or mobile mechanics very often-costs several hundred dollars just to get them here! Looking forward to asking for insight and maybe we can share what little we've found over the years.

Hi, I work for a paving company, I've been with this one for 18 yrs it's been a good place to work. Found this site by doing a search for a problem I was having with my Bobcat, happy to find it as it covers alot of different subjects.

My biggest hobbie is snowmobiling, and I can hardly wait to unload the lowbed for the last time of the season so that I can hit the trails.:woohoo

hi my name is Ed i've been in the heavy equip./truck field too long [over 30 yrs.] and still love it!!! not much i havn't run or fixed , best mach.i liked Northwest 180D in cable shovel form, i didn't like D-8 doser on rock [in quarry use] Rite now i have my own repair shop and mobile repair been doing this about 20 yrs. did some sandblasting in between [ very dirty work]but i still like repairs . when i'm not repairing i have many diverse hobbys [ not NASCAR]Remember dirt is for racing, Asphalt is for getting to the track!!!!

I'm afraid I don't actually work in this field. I am a Mold Maker/CNC Machinist. I just traded for an old Hough loader and need to find a good source for information. No better place than people who have actually used them. I live in Mid-Missouri and like to machine, and mess with equipment among other things.

Well before anyone asks, yes I was "Joe Dirt" before the movie (32 years).
I have been around equipment all of my life and love every minute of it. I thought for a while I was going to have to check myself into "tractors anonymous" until I found this site.
The old man sold Komatsu and Deere for many years and for the other "many years" ran equipment rental yards. Truth be know, I lived over the shop all through my highschool years (tough picking up girls). That being said, I was exposed to all types of equipment , backhoes, loaders, light plants,welders and yes sewer snakes too (yum).

Bought my first backhoe at the age of 19 (510B John Deere) and the business has expanded ever since. We now have expanded to 30+ employees and have 10 or 15 tractors.

My hobbies would be summed up by my work. Love diggin dirt, hate the freekin collections. My other latest hobbie would be viewing the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge on here and it is enjoyable to read. Thanks for the site.... Joe Dirt: usa

Drove plant mainly diggers here in the uk for 20 years including-Hitachi 130-
JCB 3cx-Komatsu 210- short time on Cat D6H etc then unfortunatly got
Type 1 diabetes so thay took my licences off me but i'm still intrested in
Plant.
