I was meaning the whole product range of one manufacturer over another. I know Cat,Komatsu,Volvo etc make good and bad machines over the whole range.
Some machine in a certain class one brand can be better overall than another. I know Komatsu have made a few troublesome machine in paticular the PC200EL-6K & PW170-5K

Deere is a great company , has been a strong, stable manufacturing company, built some of the best machinery.... but Not the best.. My dad farmed 1000 acres in southern Ill had many Deere tractors and they were always called.. Johnny Put-- puts because they were underpowered. Deere has never put enough horse power in there machines. As for tractors... International Harvester was the best, heavy machinery Terex...:usa

In my opinion from the ones I have run,you cant outclimb a cat, theres allmost nothing a d11 wont climb,A komats with the longer tracks wins out over cat in a long push everytime for volume but loses to a cat in a tight area and the best for finishing or stripping topsoils are john deeres.

Best Dozer

This a D375A which replaced a D11 our customer had. Now clocked up around 12,000h with high availabilty. The operator didn't want a first cause he was a Cat man, but now given the choice want's another D375 whan this ones replace. Works really well when in lock-up on the long push.
Never seen a John Deere construction equipment in the UK.

I am running a 375 right now,the newest model with the rear drives a few inches higher then the last years model. We run them in the oilsands tailings ponds and I thought they were comparable to a d10,as I have run an 11 before I think the d11 could pull a komatsu 375 all over the place no problem if you could find a sling big enough.:)
With the anti track slip komatsu has though they will keep pushing untill the material comes over the top of the blade and even then they keep going,I have had a d9 and 2 d8's trying to push alongside me to catch the runoff and they were soon sitting and going nowhere.I'll post pics as soon as my computer lets me.
I have allways been a CAT guy but was very impressed with the 375.
The cat operators on the 9's and 8's were also impressed, they told me they were waiting for this big dozer to stop and yet it never did.

The 375a is no match for a d11 but is still an awesome machine.
The komatsu is good for pulling out anything smaller then a d10.:)
I do that everyday.
Their cab is also the best I have seen, back up camera and roof mounted GPS.
Any Komatsu reps need a salesman?

Nah, I hope others are having better luck with their Komatsu dozers than we do. Our experience with their dozers has been somewhat less than......ummmm.....positive.

This is the first one I have ran in a production setting and aside from the solenoids that actuate the cooling fans sticking and the faulty front ram seals they have been good so far.
Time will tell though, all 4 of the ones we bought have under 1000 hours on them so far.
Heres both the 375a and some d8's stuck.;)

Heres what we run in most of the time. The d8's cant get in or out of the ponds without the komatsu's breaking trail and no one wants to send in a comparable d10.

That stuff is MFT which is mature fine tailings from the tailings ponds,as we are trying to get rid of the ponds we have to dredge it out of each one and mix it with a polymer flocculent so it will release water, without the polymer it will stay wet for 20 years,it's just fine clay particles anyways. Then we pump it into cells to dry which takes 21 days,as we exceeded the point where it was drying before pouring again thats why it's so deep.
So when we cant pump anymore it will be left to form a dry crust on top which we will attempt to pour on once again but this time we are going to use snowcats to spread out the wet mft.
We just bought 4 new ones so I should have some more interesting pictures when I finish my next hitch starting in a couple of days.

When freeze up starts in a month we will be pushing and loading all that material out and thats when that komatsu will shine.
Even the die hard Cat guys like me have been impressed on what they will push.

I would have to say Cats for pushing and Deeres for grading. I will always enjoy running a terex. They are a awesome pushing dozer and just fun to run. Never a fan of the Komatsu.

You have to remember that when cat came out with the d10,the 9 got smaller, thats an old 9 and im not sure of the horsepower but the komatsu 375a is pushing over 650 horse and thats derated for the alttitude.
You will also notice zero track spin on the komatsu, thats a feature they have where you can set it for limited shoe slip, you have 5 settings in the cab on the computer to do this.

I put the 375a in the same class as any of the newer class d10's and there is not one that will outpush it period.
On a long push the longer track frame makes it superior to a cat,I have literally had 3 d8's and a d9 t's and n's trying to pick up the overflow from my blade and they all were sitting and spinning after the first 50 yards.
These were all old cat hands and now they are still amazed and awestruck at the ability of the 375a.

They kept telling me...We were wondering when it was going to stop....it never did.;)
