2 shares Hayes ads. #2 shows the first built HDX model(left truck). Look at cab, it got a single windshield!

I will forward you a couple of pictures of the FIRST HDX Hayes built. That picture above shows her when she was getting on in age. Originally built by Hayes for "Butler Bros" in Sooke She was sold to Bill Neil after Butler Bros were finished with her. She ended up going up the coast to a camp and had a runnaway and was brought back down to Nanaimo to Intertruck where I think she was parted out. The original cab with the one piece windshield was replaced with a regular HDX cab sometime in her career. The original cab has been lost to history but we are kicking around cloning one of the clipper door HDX's and trying to duplicate the original truck. It would be interesting to see how something like that would turn out!!! When Hayes was building her in the factory there was three different style cabs on the floor around her and yet they chose to build a one-of cab just for this truck. Will forward pics when time permits Hayesno1

What year was the single window truck? My Dad remembers seeing it parked at Butlers when he was a boy riding the school bus and wanted me to ask about it a while back. Did it have a 6-110 in it? How many HDX's were made in total? So many questions.... I know you have the answers HDX!!!

Thanks Reg

Hayesno1 that is the same old girl as posting #1169 Just a few owners and a few years before

HDX; thanks for information and confirming it's #4218. I thought it migth be the same truck but I had my doubts when looking at pics of her at post #1180, as she seems to have a very short hood, but it must be the angle of the pics... LOL

HDX; thanks for sharing ad and information re first built HDX. That must have been a very unique truck for it's time. I don't think I have seen any truck make with that kind of I-beam frame being used in the logging industy before the HDX was introduced.

Another Faris owned truck. I think it is an old HDX from the 60's - rad is not wide and width over fenders seems smaller. Looks like 70.000 rears but I am not good at that. Maybe HDX can fill up with some information. Pics were taken in summer 2000 at Tom Turners place.

My favorites, old Hayes. My first ride in a Truck was a Hayes when I was 9. Loved it. Not one of these beasts but a Hayes non the less. Do 1 of you very knowledgeable gentlemen know what the new price of an HDX with trailer was in say 1970?

Old Olympic H277 has a bit of damage here but maybe will be saved. Looks like it has a KT cummins in it, couldn't find the s/n as the paint was pretty thick on the frame. History anyone?
