A follow up on the machine is that my friend decided to have the nozzles tested and found that #2 wasn't popping at all. All it did was dribble out the tip. He has a replacement coming. This engine was rebuilt a couple of times by the dealer and apparently they did not do anything with the fuel system. I guess we will see how much farther they can go before other issues on the pump start to show up.
