I got this welded up a little bit more. I’m getting ready to put it together and test it before it ends up in the fence row until another day. Nige, that is a good point to share about the stressers. It makes perfect sense.

I had to clean up a lot of previous repairs that were definitely cobbled to get this back together.

I also repacked the cylinder for the fun of it when I cut off the end and welded the end back on straight.

I couldn’t help it. I brought up some trees that I knocked over before I broke the bucket. I had to try it out after I fixed it and before I take it off!

You can drop those trees off in my side yard! Always need more firewood!

When you swap buckets add a little support to the back of the Ulrich, I hung a piece of channel across under the lower pins bosses at bucket floor level as these bustards tend to be back heavy.

Good idea! What did you do for the lines on the loader frame? I’m thinking about machining a few plugs to go on the hard lines.

I actually bought the high dollar disconnect couplers. connected the lines on the boom and set the bucket on the ground with a M/F coupler set on it. Should probably put one coupler on line and one hard to boom then similar on bucket. This way IF I so choose to set a forks and grapple I can as hydraulics are ready and can QD the attachments. Allis pins are slip fit unlike Cat.

It has been a long time since I posted on here! I got the buckets swapped this summer and put the gal to work this summer and fall at the farm and over at the in-laws. I didn't think to take any pictures of the process of building the brush mountains. This new bucket makes a different machine out if it, for sure.

I cheated on the old hydraulic lines. I ended up making my own plugs for the 4-1 bucket. I popped a lift hose this year, and thankfully never thrown it away. I cut off the metal ends and welded a plug in each end to make sealing plugs for the hard lines on the loader arms!

I did pull a dumdum and got in a fight with a tree branch this fall, though. I wacked the muffler with a limb and cracked the elbow off the turbo outlet. There was not a lot of meat left around the area for the sealing ring, but I made it work. That was a bit of a PITA to get off of the turbo. I ended up splitting it with a cutoff wheel in a few places to get if apart. A torch was handy to get the new one swelled up enough to get it back together.

Good to see the old girl earning her keep.
How are those resealed track rollers holding up.?
Not a one of them has leaked a drop! I did knock the inner lip off of one of them this fall at the father in laws whilst pushing on a hillside. To be expected, I'm sure...

Life has a way of getting busy sometimes! The 955 has been all over the countryside the past few years. Clearing brush and overgrowth, digging ponds, and moving hills. I’ve been fighting leaking cups quite a bit, so I’m bringing it in for a new head.

Had a rainy Sunday today, so we brought it in the shop and pulled the head. I’ve already got the parts in order, so I’m hoping it’ll be back together by next weekend. I’m hoping to clean up some waterways yet this year. I ordered a bare head, so I dressed the valves. Supposedly, this was a reman head before I got it, and the valves look to agree.
