Help with 580C swing cylinder ID

Posting some pics of the job progress. Left side is done and working on the right. Mostly came apart with out too much trouble. I had to borrow a 1" impact and 1 7/8" socket to loosen the bolt that hold the piston to the rod.

Help with 580C swing cylinder ID

Hello, my 580C swing cylinders need to be resealed. I have the original parts and service manuals and apparently there are 2 options for the swing cylinders- "one piece piston G101182 or two piece piston G33881" My cylinders are stamped G102525. I'm not sure what reseal part to order. Any help...

    The 580C won't start, help!

I'm ashamed to admit, she has sat all summer. Still has last winters fuel in. I'm going to run that out and fill w/fresh fuel and hopefully be good to go. Thanks for all the guidance on this. I think it comes down to mechanical things are ment to be run, not left sit.

    The 580C won't start, help!

Good news.. Cindy Lou is back in action!! We had warm weather the past 2 days. Yesterday I cranked and cranked- nothing. Today she started up with the first 3 'chugs' of the starter just like normal. Let her run an hour or so while I cleaned out a spot in the barn for indoor parking. I think she...

    The 580C won't start, help!

Thank for all the advice. I got the top cover off. Its clean inside and the levers seem to be operating with the shut off knob. Ive had one of the battery chargers with "engine start" on it so it's cranking over good. I'm not getting any fuel from the return line or injector line (both...

    The 580C won't start, help!

Update- I wasn't looking at the right part. The disc visible under the cover that is to the front does rotate, just not the rear disc with the mark. So to eleminate other possibilities of operator error.. (it's been a while since I've ran this) The key is on, trans and shuttle in nuetral, fuel...

    The 580C won't start, help!

The Case has sat for a while and now won't start. Cranks over good. No smoke or indication of even trying to fire. Sounds "normal" when cranking. I've had a heater on it for a day now. Checked the inlet screen to the pump and it's clean with good fuel flowing from the filters to the pump. I...

    580C Power beyond fitting ?

I bought a pressure gauge off of EBay for $9.95. I don’t have a suitable hose to connect it, but removing the plastic trim piece from around the loader valve gave room to thread the gauge directly into the test port. All seems good now. There was this chattering screeching noise when at the...

    580C Power beyond fitting ?

Ok, I have replaced the O rings. I had to rebuild the battery box. When I opened the battery compartment to access the Power Beyond fitting, the bottom hinge broke off and I almost ended up with a couple of batteries on me feet! Anyway, it still does the same thing. I ran it a while today and...

    580C Power beyond fitting ?

The 580C backhoe does not seem to have the same amount of hydraulic power as the loader. When the loader gets in a spot where it is at it's limit I can hear the engine working harder and see the exhaust thicken up a bit. The same is not true when the backhoe is at its limits- it doesn't work the...

Why No Grease Fittings on Loader Joint, Case 580CK?

Looks like the same set up as mine. A couple of 2X4s like in the picture to block up the cylinder and the front link will help keep your fingers from getting pinched off. Two bolts out then a little prying and it all falls apart. I did it myself, It would have been better to have a helper to...

Why No Grease Fittings on Loader Joint, Case 580CK?

I wondered about that on my "C" , its just like that. Last fall I took the links off cleaned the pins/bushings all up. There is a recess between the inboard and outboard bushings that will hold about a handfull of grease.

Case 580K: when using "float" on FEL going up hill, front end lifts

On my 580C sometimes I have to have it curled up slightly (judged by looking at the 2 little pointer brackets on the right side) to keep from digging down in float.

    Case 580C question

Fishfighter- I took my "vent" apart on my 580C to clean it a while back. Its under a pop off cover right of the fuel fill cap. It has a spring and a disc inside the fitting like a reed valve. It is only a vacuum breaker and not a pressure relief. There is a hose that connects just below the...

    Old cordless tools

What to do with the old cordless tools after the batteries won’t hold the charge anymore. Usually, the cost of replacement batteries justify buying a new (and more powerful) cordless drill set. I saw on the “Instructables” website someone cut the battery adapter off of an old cordless...

    my new case 580k

"then for the brake tubing do you know the size of it ?? i am horrible at sizing thing " An easy way to figure the size of steel brake line is to find a good clean portion of the existing line and see what size open end wrench fits tight over the line . Probably 1/4" or 3/16"

Case 580 on the AEP Surplus site

My 1980 580C looks just like it except my cab is black. My battery box is on the right side and unless you want to crawl in thru the right side window, the only way in is the door on the left side. The hoe is different - I have 2 boom lift cyls and the extendable dipper. The front bucket links...
