probably like most other medium sized dozers with 15,000 hours on them, growing weeds under it in some farmers field.

I guess I was trying to make a point. Our D6R's got replaced at 20,000 hrs. Our D8N's have around 35,000 on them and still get used hard every day.

Will this new D7E model last that long?

If not, it isn't the best dozer ever made.

What is it going to be like when it gets 15,000 hours on it?

I would expect it to be going strong at 15,00o hrs, with proper maintenance. It seems to be built for a long haul. The engine should outlast most any conventional crawler engine, and the electric drive is proven technology. It lasts many hours in mining trucks and such.
My main area of concern would be the electronic controls for all the other systems. That seems to be the place for glitches in the newer gear. Very little component problems, but the little things will still sideline it.

Structurally I would expect it at least on par with current D-7R's. I know of 30,000 hr D-7H's, and I would not be surprised to see that out of the D-7E

You must not work your equipment very hard! your not Half a load Harry are you?? Im jk. My dad has two 65 komatsus and he has 12k on the clock for both of them. im sure it will out last them or I will never hear the end of it. Im sure like most technologically advanced machines theses days its not going to be as much major engine failures and finals getting chewed up as it is trying to figure out why everytime you hit the F-N-R switch in reverse she just sits and counter rotates.

You have a union # that should explain everything! :beatsme

OK, here on HEF we don't allow the union vs non-union argument just for the sake of a pissing contest. YELLOMTLMILITIA, consider this a warning...:cool2

I didnt say anything bad about the Union, Hell I would join one if we had one worth a crap back here. The oilfield guys used to rack thousands of hours up on the hour meters, by letting thier dozers idle.

TONKA.

Never breaks, easy to work on, very few moving parts and great on fuel.:D

Agreed on great on fuel, but every Tonka I owned, I broke. The tires fell off the truck, the bucket bent on the loader, the blade came apart on the dozer, the bucket bent on the "traxcavator." They were fun to play with, though, and moved a lot of dirt. I had some fun.

Just pulling your leg here, but just because a machine doesn't last a certain number of hours doesn't mean it's the best machine ever made. Some POS (VW Beetle) will run for millions of years and are still no good!

I realize that.:) But a dozer (especially a new one) is a major investment. If it is going to be considered to be the "best dozer ever made" it better last a long time.

I agree
Terex - a very under rated dozer.
Rip like crazy and great balance.
Our company had 4 - an 82-40, 2 x 82-30's and an 82-30 which was a real honey to operate

Cat is tough to beat on the larger iron when it comes to dozers. Loaders etc they have some competition.

Komatsu make a good dozer, anyone who thinks every machine by one maufacturer is better than any other is being unrealistic. :)
Got to be honest, we have never had luck with any Komatsu dozer we have bought. They are great in the beginning, but just seem to go down hill rather quickly. Finals seem to be a major issue, as well as internal hydraulic lines beneath the cab. Several radiators and water pumps. Another issue, are things like doors that wont close right, doors that are stuck shut and wont open. things in the cabs tend to fall off, like knobs. Been through three broken seats (welds), wiper motors that quit, and so on. Our Caterpillar and John Deeres breakdown as well, but nothing like our Komatsu's. I do however like our Komatsu excavators. Just my honest two cents.
