Periodically, I get back pain. Usually it is after some horrible contortion in a crawl space, or under a tractor. Mine is severe, and might last two months or more.
Doctor said: "get a new mattress"
ME: "I did"
Doctor: "Learn to live with it."

After a severe bout of back pain I went to him. He sent me for "therapy".
I stood on one foot, threw a ball through a hole. Rode a bicycle laying down, did lots of exercises with rubber bands around my ankles.

Then they get out the cattle prods! They hooked me up to electricity. Now, I've had more than my share of electric shock, always because of my own carelessness. Never been burned until then. Fourth round of shock therapy I got a whopper of a burn! 1" diameter & maybe 3/8" deep. Healing took months!

It made me forget my back pain! It'll have to be pretty severe before I go back there again.

WillieB, your Doc and mine must have gone to the same school, My back pain literally never leaves, been told suck it up as cannot help there.
He's several years younger than me, 6' tall, weighs about 160. He works out every day, never had a cigarette, drink, or food not organic. Lives on tree bark & birdseed. He seems to feel anyone who isn't just like him doesn't deserve to complain.

I have had on and off back pain for a couple years involving pulled lower back muscles. It usually occurred after lifting something heavy and/or twisting at the same time. Went for x-rays and poking & prodding. I got onto some simple stretches and excercises for about 5 minutes every day and it has made a huge difference. I still pull my lower back muscles occassionally, but now i recover in a day or two instead of a couple weeks. I guess it makes sense. As we get older we are not as limber as we used to be;)

The catch word these days {inventory}. Funny-I have a compressor to rebuild for a friend-{inventory, cost and shipping are his problem}.
Cummins SS296 all parts are available for about $200 including shipping, just the core charge is $350 on a reman.

You can call for parts people on Labor Day weekend, man I’m jealous. Be lucky if the grocery store is opened out here.

Unhappy days
Got check valves and primer on, restarted, 650rpm and only 12# oil pressure 1500 and only 20#
Stopped for a few days let the anger die back, set my pressure tank up dropped pan and at 40# discharge get this with nearly no oil to head.
Next up drop all the extremities
Plastigage this as this is unacceptable.

Bought the damned pump in January, OH Kit took forever to get here then other problems arose and just now got to Run stage, makes me worry there is NO warranty for the pump. Will speak to Service as well Parts as to ability to Test this one or if will just exchange, and at what cost.

I don't know-Years ago I pulled cat and cummins oil pumps apart to clean and check-IIRC I only replaced three on cat and maybe five or six on cummins. On cummins I
usually replaced pressure relief spring was all. My fear was a pump sucking air.

Pump shows no signs of any relief issues, spring intact and fasteners tight, this style is as simple as it gets where only consideration is too much clearance and unable to deliver volume due to bypassing. I won't open it up and look, that will be on Cat. No cracks or indications on the suction tube, were True Cat orings on the tubes not IPD as bought them when bought the pump Was some leakback thru pickup screen when pressurized the oil gallery. No cracks can see at all.
