The 963C is finally back together.

One of the last jobs was converting the bucket pins from sealed cartridge to conventional style pin-n-bush. I had to get creative by turning a dummy pin and fabricating a platform for a mag drill in order to drill a grease hole that would break through the bore to intersect with the relief on the outside of the bushing.

Next job is to run it up for a couple of hours and take oil samples. If all is OK, install the belly guards and it's done.

I think the the grease fitting where you put it is better than on top of the loader arm like on a 931B. The fitting is recessed and the hole is enlarged for the grease coupler but it still gets packed with dirt you have to dig out every time you grease it in addition to having to lift the bucket to dump it for access. Another good idea and PIA idea at the same time. It looks like you tacked the bolts so they can't come loose. Good idea to only tack them. If you put much more weld they'd probably snap like glass.

I did consider drilling the grease hole through the top, however..... what I'm doing is basically emulating the design from a later serial number break and this is where the grease hole is located.

I reckoned that smarter men than me had decided where to put it. I didn't feel like overriding their decision and risking a breakage.

These early C series track loaders tended to have powertrain failures around these hours. Later machines had the hydraulic suction, cooler and return lines re-designed which was an improvement.

It had a major pump failure and got taken apart. It then got left out in the weather in pieces with the cab off for several years. We took the opportunity to carry out a complete re-hose.

I'm sure sitting half taken apart for several years added quite a bit to the bill.
That would make things interesting I'm sure!

Sounds like a guy on a motorcycle forum I'm on. He bought a bike with plans to do a major customizing project. Had it stripped down to just a frame with engine hanging in it. Then lack of time or interest it sat for a couple years. Now he is wanting to sell it, just boxes of parts and pieces. Seems he is asking the price a complete (assembled) bike would go for.

Looks like sabotage to me. I bought a loader once that had been working in timber milling and it was sabotaged by Greenies.
They put something explosive in the fuel tank and buckled it, and filled the transmission with sand.
