Here is a driveway apron we completed. Almost got it paved when they decided to come in and widen the road ripping out all our work. Oh well

Here is a shallow septic system due to a high watertable. Sewer lines in AK have to be buried at a minimum of 4' or 2' with 2" of insulation

Okay, Ill stir up the albums and see what I can find. This pic here was on the ol' 18A my grandpa bought it nearly new around '56 then slapped some new paint on it in the 80's its my first known pic behind the controls :)

We dont have any old excavators besides this old bucyrus. I ran this one for a few days, it was alot of fun, always pushing or pulling or holding a break! Cant sit back and relax in that operators seat, haha. I'm hoping we can get it running again this summer and I'll get some good footage and photos of her in action.

Heres an old le tourneau scraper, never saw this one in action that I recall, kinda small for the stuff we usually do. The other scraper has been used quite a bit, that one links up behind the D9 quite nice.

Yeah cheers for the pics, quite a collection. D9D is the first of the series with a single air cleaner; later ones had dual aircleaners.
Is that a late IH TD18 with the twin exhaust pipes, or a early TD20 ?? Seems tidy; still run ? And looks like a alliis HD20 hidden in there too.
Little LeT model D scoop goes good behind a D4 or HD5 !

It is a TD-18, an old Army dozer, it runs good. The D9 and IH run the best somtimes the old D8-14a cable makes an appearance. I have some video of them in working somewhere around here. I'll have to get them up. The cable blades are a lot of fun to operate. Totally different game then hydraulic.. That little scrape would come in handy, had this job this summer where this guy wanted his hill/mountain taller so he could have a building pad on the top of this pinnacle. We ran the loader up and down the hill for a day or so. it eventually got to muddy. A dozer and scraper would have been nice. If I only had a winch on the 450.....

So we made a bigger pad up there by the Stonehenge....

So he could have a better view of this...

Clearing off the overburden down to good gravel

Dig a big hole, I almost got the boom maxed out when I hit bedrock

Calculating how big the hole needs to be in order to have enough gravel and be able to bury everything

Everything worked out perfectly!

Starting the dig, first hole I hit about 9' of sand... Not exactly what you want at the base of a big hill you have to drive up.

IMG_0789.JPG

Making progress one hole at a time

IMG_0790.JPG

It is always tricky working on a slope, cleaning your road base down to gravel, piling the debris, digging the hole out of the road prism and not getting yourself trapped.

Slow but sure
