Wish I could recall the exact prices but many years back the company had several off-highway trucks with Allison transmissions with electric shifters. Depending on the model of transmission the shift controller had, as I recall, either 6 or 8 micro-switches in them.
Back then I think the switch assembly cost around $600 or $800. Nowadays I'm betting if they are even available they would go for well over $1,000. After biting the bullet on the first one I disassembled the replaced assembly and found that the micro-switches inside were standard off the shelf parts. Looking in the Graingers catalogue I found I could buy them a dozen or more at a time for something like $2.00 each.
So instead of paying $600 or more for the assembly I would just disassemble and replace the micro-switches for $12.00 and maybe $40 to $50 labor cost. So we got shifter working again for about 10% the cost new switch assembly and that does not even take into account the down time on the trucks as switch assemblies had ordered and I always had enough micro switches on the shelf to do two or three switch rebuilds.
As for those window hinges I'd be tempted to save the old ones and see if you could find someone who plays around with 3d printed parts. It is surprising how good some of those are these days with all kinds of different materials being used.
