Realize an old thread, new to HEF and unable to post my own thread, so thought would add some good info to this one on the first page in the Old Iron section for anyone interested in steam in the Northwest USA.

The "Great Oregon Steam Up" is an annual event in Oregon this coming weekend and next, July 28th & 29th and August 4th & 5th, 2012.

Location: Antique Powerland is located in Brooks Oregon. 1/4 mile west off of Exit 263 on I-5 (about 8 miles north of Salem) Take I-5 to exit 263. Go west 2 blocks on Brooklake Rd and you will see us on the north side of the road. Address: 3995 Brooklake Rd NE, Salem, OR 97303

Museum and Antique Powerland Website is: http://www.antiquepowerland.com/index.html

Info on the events the next two weekends including fees and information: http://www.antiquepowerland.com/info/annual.html

Relatives have been working it for at least ten years straight. Including one young man, John D, who is the youngest experienced steam engine operators around anywhere. His dad got him into it young. And think they even went to some kind of special schooling to pass tests to be steam certified, while not sure of the process. Send me a PM if anyone wants to talk to a couple steam operators into it and will put you in touch with them.
