I like the new tie off rules, I think its at 13 or more feet on a crane you dont need to tie off? That will def make our jobs easier and safer when putting these cranes together and tearing them apart. Last year in 2009 an apprentice was pulled into the boom hoist drum and killed when a "competant safety" man told him he had to tie off while working on the crane. when the apprentice replied there were no tie off points the safety told him to tie off to one of the lines behind him, sadly the apprentice tied off to a live line. Also I have heard something about new manufacturing rules stating that all companies have to install gaurdrails, fixed or collapsing, catwalks and tie off points and lines. it is nice to finally see this go into effect.
