Well, I wasnt able to sleep so I am on here looking for guidance and help that I may be needing in the future. My Girlfriend and I are building a house and bought a used backhoe. We origionally were going to purchase a 98 Case 580 Super L that I know was Meticulously maintained for $23,000 with 18" 24" and 36" buckets, we passed and bought a JD 410C 4x4 Turbo. It was $15,000 Less. I guess this might be a "Get what you paid for" Experience.
Today was the first time I ran the machine for any length of time. I am a little concerned. I was digging three perc holes and on the third hole the boom cylinder seemed to run out of power. Also, when I push down on the stabilizers, One has much more power then the other. Also when we purchased the machine, I check the engine oil and it seemed fine, today, when I checked the oil it seemed to be a tiny bit lighter in color, my first thought was water in the oil. Today I am going to replace the oil and filter in the engine and see if there is any change, and how quick it happens.
As far as the boom and one stabilizer cylinder not having power, could it be the cylinders need rebuilt? How do I rule out its not the pump, just by the other cylinders having power? Do I put a gauge on the pump to see if it has the right pressure first?
Also the engine is smoking a good bit, anything I can do short of a rebuild kit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I know I have a bit of troubleshooting to do before I get some things straightened out but guidance is most helpful.
I am so glad for forums like these, I have been reading about problems others have had and those who lend their expertise. I belong to several astronomy groups for computer guided telescopes and lend my knowledge there.
Thanks for any advise
Shawn
