Well I've been goofing off the last couple days. I buy a tag every year to deer hunt up in Iowa where I grew up. I go with a group that we've all hunted together for years, and I've missed it the last 4-5 years because I've been working. I had to go get the truck and beams back from ponca saturday, I took sunday off, and went up to iowa monday. I got to hunt tuesday and wednesday, and had a great time. I've got to quit skipping.
Anyways heres some pics of what the ground up there is like. We hunt small stands of timber, and switchgrass. We don't sit in any stands or blinds. We walk and drive the deer - kind of like pushing cattle.
I got a lot of ribbing, I've skipped several years, and I came up late this year (season opened on saturday). On my first drive, I parked my truck and walked about 50 yards, and posted a small creek and switchgrass patch. 10 minutes later I had a nice doe laying on the ground. It's nice to get lucky once in a while.
