Hey guys,

Currently looking for a good hammer to purchase for my 2007 Cat 430E backhoe. Pics are attached.

I'm interested in something comparative to the H65S. I know about NPK (the newer ph3 model or the older gh3 model) and Montabert (not sure which is the compatible model). Which one would you recommend to get good value from a used hammer?

Are there other brands/models to consider?

I'm looking for something under $10K. What would you recommend? And where are good sites to look for and buy these parts other than machinery trader?

Andre

A 430 is only going to carry an 1100 ish lbs hammer the 1500lbs class is way to heavy and you stand a good chance of folding up a 750 lbs hammer with the weight of a 430

Npk is my brand of choice dont buy a cat unless it's been made in the last 3 years and still not really interested strykers seem ok but you can find a few 4x npk hammers for under 5 grand there old but they just keep running

Thanks AzIron!

But the ph3 is weighted at 750 lbs. So wouldn't the 430E damage it then?

I wouldn't run a ph3 on a 430 a ph4 possibly a ph5 will be ok

It's not that a small hamer will get damaged right away it's that the machine weight being overmatched if not handled lightly will seriously shorten the life of the hammer they need to be matched
