Generator value?

Does anyone know where to find the value of a generator? other then e-bay which doesn't seem to have the larger ones.
We are doing an addition and a remodel on a building which has a generator that has to be pulled out. It's a onan 280 kw 800 amp with a natural gas Cummins engine, made in 1999 and only 237 hrs. The thing looks great just we have no use for it and what to sell it. Seen prices from 10,000 to 24,000 but for diffrent sizes and kinds.

Go to Rock and Dirt.com, there are a number of dealers listed there that sell new and used units, their listings should give you an idea of what they could bring.

That generator is worth more than that your probably looking at minimum 30,000 dollars. A brandnew self contained 100 kw 3 phase diesel generator here is 50,000 dollars.

The problem with the one you have is its natural gas so it can't be used in a remote location. If that was a diesel you would easilly fetch 40,000 dollars for it.

Thanks Steve, I did a quick peek at rock and dirt will look closer later this weekend. Thanks Ford, I need to get rid of this thing but don't what to give it away but don't want to try too high of price and rob someone either.
