We drilled some shafts Thursday and at first were told no mud as it was under 32. Having lived up north that made me laugh. I will say they have gotten a lot better about preparing the roads, getting plows etc for the rare occasions we get ice or snow. 15-20 years ago things flat shut down. One year, maybe 07, we got a really bad ice storm. Power out for days/weeks etc and I ended up throwin chains on my old feed truck and going to Tulsa to get my old man so he could grocery shop and some other odds and ends for family. As big as Tulsa is we almost had the entire city to ourselves. I think I ran on those chains for 3-4 days it was that bad.
The house I had at the time sat on a nice 1-1/2 acre lot with beautiful mature trees. I had just trimmed them up nice that fall and had the backyard like a golf course. It trashed them. We laid in bed all night long as the ice came down and accumulated. Started hearing small branches go and then some thuds so loud and hard it shook the house. Tress came down root ball and all! The one that upset me the most was a really nice oak, two full grown adults couldn't touch hands trying to hug it. All that was left was a 40' trunk.
