September,1972. Most of the early loaders put together by Cypress were really tippy, and an inexperienced operator could easily get into trouble on one. Add to that the fact that they basically had no brakes, and a boom hoist that would go up on its own when descending hills....... The very narrow, cramped cab left little room for escape if something happened.
Running a log loader was no job for the faint of heart! It wasn't until the 7230 that Cypress perfected the log loader, with power up and down on the boom, hydraulic drive carrier, and hydraulic swing motor. I think it's no coincidence that the 7230 was the first to have "Cypress" on the counterweight, too.
