Cypress Equipment Co. was formed in 1966, when its predecessor, Construction Equipment Co. sold off its branch operations in Canada. A group of CMC employees purchased the B.C. operation, which became Cypress. They converted American Hoist & Derrick machines into log loaders and grapple yarders, and also built their own version of G.M. Philpott's tank drill.

Cypress also distributed, over the years, Champion graders, Hitachi, and Prentice hydraulic machines, Moxy dump trucks, and they also manufactured the Roc-Champ drill.

Well known Cypress machines include the 5676 and 7675 log loaders, 7220 Combo yarder-loader, 7280A, B, and C grapple yarders, and 7230 log loaders.

Everyone feel free to add your Cypress/American pictures to this thread! :)

This one was rebuilt by Madill not too many years ago. Can anyone decipher the mumbo jumbo on that plate?

Never could figure out Cypress serial# 046c might be a clue
Couldn't get the van vids to upload wouldn't take avi file any ideas:beatsme

This 7280C & 6280 came out of Alaska pretty sure. The 7280 around 2001 by Madills sold to Hayes and the 6280 2004 by Hayes. I ran the 7280 the nicest one yet Y1125 never ran this 6280. Contract Logger may know more history on this stuff and the Silver Bay 122.

Some More Cypress/American Stuff

5675 on rubber, built in 1978. The 5675 had all the controls in the cab to run the outriggers, but my guess is that they are defunct now. Back to using the controls on the carrier. M&B had one, before this one, that had the annoying habit of losing its steering control at the worst possible times. They never did figure out the problem.

Love the mud hole shot!!! wonder if you could get away that these days.

That was access logging, where they'd push a rough trail in with the D8, drag the loader in, and drag each loaded truck out with the cat. You can still see the scars on Google Earth 40 years later! :( I'm glad they outlawed that years ago.
