I have a 2004 cat D4K dozer with an electrical knob for the RPM. If i let the dozer sit overnight or for a few hours or even minutes sometimes it starts up and operates fine could be for hours or could be minutes it’s unpredictable. But it could be operating with RPMs high and then it just cuts out and goes to idle and no matter how we turn the knob it doesn’t work then the service light starts blinking yellow and the machines hydraulics start to not work. I don’t know where to even begin diagnosing.

I Also Don’t Think It’s A 2004, from what my supervisor says it’s a 1994
Your bulldozer was manufactured in 2012.
You can see the service codes on the display.

Digital display window (17) provides readouts that show the following items:

  • Operational hours (service hours)

  • Engine speed (tachometer)

  • Diagnostic codes

  • Selected speed and direction

  • Hydraulic Oil Temp

  • Implement Control Modes

  • Steering Control Modes

  • System Voltage

  • Oil Pressure
Press up arrow button (18) until the desired function is displayed. Press the right arrow button (18) in order to access the parameters of the displayed function.

Thank you for your help! Appreciate it! Unfortunately i work for a macadamia nut farming business and my supervisor sucks. Doesn’t want to buy us any repair manuals or anything. He’s ready to retire and just being shitt and making our lives hard.
