OUCH!
what do you mean transfer gear housing? Can you post more pictures? That does not look like any bolt I have seen come out of the trans...In the magnetic screen, it appears as if something spent some time in the transfer gears and ended up busting the transfer gear housing.
I may be wrong but the shape and depth of the head on it gives me the impression it could be some kind of stop. A shame that the photo doesn't show whether or not the head is domed in some way. That does not look like any bolt I have seen come out of the trans...
The ports on the valve body are 1/8 pipeA machine from that era is not likely to have quick connectors for testing, probably threaded plugs that will most likely be 1/4" either NPT or similar. You'lkl have to whip some of the p;lugs out and take a look. See the attachment. Don't go too far on this just yet, first get into the screen/magnetic filter and see what you find.
See #26 in the illustration below. 2M-7188 Screw. 7/8" NC thread x 6" long. If that's what's in your photo then she done broko, which raises the next question - where's the other piece.?I am not saying it is but it could be a bit off a brake band adjuster??? it looks nothing like anything I have seen in a transmission, there is no stop bolts that I can recall on the valve block??? also that is a big thread size at 7/8"?????

Thanks sir, for making me reread the thread, I was in a hurry and over looked tctractors comments. Thanks Tony, much appreciated!!Thank Tony (@tctractors). He was the one who suggested to look in the brake adjuster.
Thanks for all the help sir, much appreciated. I’m thinking along the same lines. I plan to jerk the covers over the weekend and hope to see both adjustment bolts intact. Looking good so far, we got the trans stripped down to the drums today and everything looks good except the transfer gear housing area. The lubrication system is a brilliant design for the era IMO and I think it protected the remainder at this point. If anyone has some transfer gear parts available please IM me. Most interested in a 9M2060 case. Thanks!could be a old break down does the machine brakes work if so its parts left over from a old repair
