Hi all, this is my first post. I've had a 1970(?) 580ck for a few years now, but I am working on my 2nd starter replacement. The first replacement about 5 years ago led to me replacing it right away because it was fluid was pouring out of the cone. I quickly swapped it out with a similar model without the hole in the cone (opposite the engagement side). The starter I took out and the one I replaced it with had no gasket. So this time, a couple days ago, I began thinking that I must have a wet clutch starter, and by me not using the starter with the hole in the cone I am not allowing the fluid to flow... am I thinking this the right way? The reason I am unsure is because it seems to me that a wet clutch starter would absolutely require a gasket... right? So the bottom line is I might be using a non-wet clutch starter(not sealed) in a wet clutch system, can this cause clutch issues (grinding) when changing gears because the oil is not flowing through the cone like it is supposed to do? Thanks
