Not really, not anything real noticeable, for the simple fact a 427 ran a fairly violent intake duration.
*
And speaking of retarded cam timing, Ford & Chevy both retarded the timing a couple of degrees
on some V-8's back in mid 70's through 80's. Cloyes offered 2 types of timing sets, The oem 2*
degrees retarded and OEM straight up. Most people including mechanics at the time didn't realize
there was two correct sets--including the parts guys.
*
Retarded cam timing=a little better performance milage @ 2,500 to 3,000 rpm, highway speed.
Asvanced cam timing=a little better torque @ off idle to 2,500 or so.

2025 Nissan GTR--600 Hp V6-with hybrid electrification over 800 hp. At 600 hp 12.2 1/4 mile.
Although there has been reports of a team with a street legal GTR Hybrid that has produced
a high 6.67 second 1/4 mile @ 220 plus mile per hour. People who own Corvettes hate GTR's.

First time I saw a GTR at full performance was Targa NewFoundland.
1 week of racing from classics to new performance cars on the streets.
Stillen brought a prepped GTR, what a beast.
All GTR have one fault, heavy. They are hard on brakes and tires.

I have a 6v53 that a buddy wanted to put in a 50s Chevy pickup he was going to build. It is in a van box that I am about to start working on cleaning out. Not a big deal but I will have to hunt him down to see if he still wants it then haul it to one of his places make sure he has a way to unload it . Nothing is easy.

2.6 bore x 3.6 stroke 136 cu.in., smallest version.

Looks like a marine engine. I see water cooled exhaust manifolds, raw water cooling dumping into the exhaust, a spark arrestor on the carb and the tiny transmission looks like a reverse gear with the linkage set up to run under the floor boards. Interesting starter setup; never seen that before.

1962 Thunderbird Sport Roadster, with the fiberglass cover over the rear seats, only offered
in 62 & 63. With the 340 horsepower Tri-Power option or 300 horse 4 barrel. The Tri-Power
offered in the Birds had a different intake manifold from any other Tri-Power. The engines
set level basically in a Bird and the Galaxy was tilted to the rear like most all engines. So the
Tri-Power intake on a Bird the carbs all sat on the same plain/level as the Galaxy was at
different height. A bird intake could be used on other cars by using a special wedge shaped
carb adapter.

390 options in the early years-most were 300 hp 4 barrel or some factory 340 hp Tri-power.
Then there was the little known or bought 375 hp solid cam 4 barrel factory, and the very
rare 401 hp version. The 401's were the factory 375 hp solid cam but with a dealer only
installed Tri-Power--it never came from the factory with three deuces.

And in 1962 the 406 came long, starting mid 62 and only lasted to mid 63. It was a bored
390 with a 4.080 bore and 3.785 stroke. It had bigger rods, bigger exhaust valves and
cylinder head ports, with a solid cam that was rumpy 276 advertised duration with 1.76
high lift rockers, and 11:1 compression. Also factory cast iron short headers. In early 63
it was redesigned with a stouter main web 4 bolt/cross bolt main caps on 2,3,&4. Then mid
63 came the 427.Ford-and-Mercury-406-CID-Image-1.jpg

428--there were several versions, the standard 428 in the bird, a police interceptor,
a Cobra Jet and the Super Cobra Jet, all built between 1966 and 1969. 4.13 bore
with a stroked 3.98. It was built out of all existing parts from several FE series. Some
shared parts from 390's and 427's. Most horse power was in the police interceptor, 360.
But because of the stroke it was long legged. WSP loved those 68 Galaxy 7 liter 428's.
The heads used on the CJ models were sort of 427 riser heads with much bigger runners.
and the CJ's sported the same style of La Mans con rods.

Those Ford engines really seemed to be a big heavy engine . My 1963 f600 has a 330 which is about the same block. I like the 330 it is a good small truck engine . I think a lot about power to weight on different engines ?

Off road in mud a diesel will find China instantly.
Torque & Hp a 454 per lb will out perform most any in mud at 400 hp 520 lbs torque.
Same with a FE engine, for high speed roosting a 350 chevy has it hands down.
