I have a Dodge motor home that has a big block . There was someone that was going to take it for free for the engine and get rid of the body but It hasn't happened and I don't remember who it was. Its got a fiberglass body so its going to be a deal.
Very detuned the truck engines were. If you ever get a chance check the stamp pad on left
front of engine by head. See what's stamped and if there are any extra odd stamping like
a Maltese Cross--which denote certain factory changes. It could be a 413 by odd chance.

My 1/2 ton 2wd 1983 dodge is a extra plus a truck 440 with a 727 truck trans thrown in.
Friend with towing outfit I built the 454 for, has a 83 1/2 ton long box plus the 440 & 727.
Plus the 383 and 727. All payment for assembling the 454 and one 350. The 440 is a good
deal because it has the oil pan, engine mount brackets, exhaust manifolds plus the 727 with
a 12" converter, although my not use converter. Pickup is well used, inside is rough, good
nose and cab plus box is pretty straight, doors need attention. Plus a pile of rear axles with
high ratios, which is good because I'm looking for 300 and higher, 2.76.
And it has OEM Dodge Rally aluminum wheels and even a spare same wheel, those go for
$150.00 apiece. I'll remove nose, cab and box to go over frame. Like the one below only
no chrome or badges will be used.

Geting all the truck specific parts with the bb is a plus.
Hard to find years ago, probably impossible now as Dodge didn't make many bb trucks.

I had a small stash of B/RB stuff not too many years back--cleaned it out. But it's the cost
involved that I'm trying to keep curbed. 440 Source, LMC and a few other have parts but
some prices out there. Most all parts can be bought new, just don't want to if don't have
to.

But this vehicle is going to be a highway, country road type.

B/RB blocks only had 1/4" oil rifles from right side main rifle to main/rod
journals. Even rebuilding a stock engine it is advised to enlarge to 9/32"-.250 to .2812
with either drilling or using a spiral chucking reamer. Marked in blue.oilENG.jpg

Interesting my new found 383---is stamped G383 8-12-HP. ---8-12, made in August, 12th day of 1971.
G stands for year, HP high performance. It was one of the very last 383's to roll off the engine
assembly line. Factory hi-perf cam, factory high volume oil pump, steel crank, factory forged rods,
and better flowing heads with bigger valves, and factory double row timing chain. I will have the
heads updated with hardened seats, surfaced. The cam I will send to Delta Cam Tacoma and have
them grind the same exact cam/profile on a new billet. With a set of hypereutectic very mild dome
pistons with two valve reliefs and oem open chamber 906 heads it will have a CR of 9.5 easily burn
regular pump gas. Plus a 650 cfm avs carb and Edelbrock DP4B intake it will be in the 340/50 or so
hp range with a torque of around 460 lb ft.

That 383 sounds like a score. Are you going to drill all the oil journals are posted?
Yes I will enlarge the oil rifles to crank. Well it is a score-yes, and easily could have
ended up in a boiling caldron of iron soup. For anyone restoring a B body Dodge/Plymouth
car from 71 that had a 383--these engines are getting real hard to find. The fact
someone replaced the original engine {383/440} in the 1966 New Yorker it's coming
out of is odd by itself. It had to be installed in the early 70's from a wrecked muscle car.
Remember this engine is older by far over most people on here and built at the tail end
of it's production run--it's 54 years old

The interesting thing about Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth---when I get this 383 out I will be
able to find out just what car/body this 383 was installed in at the factory. C/D/P stamped
the pan rail area of B/RB engines with VIN #'s up till about 1973, IIRC.

Interesting just about every part listed on {Summit} has increased 20 plus percent in
the last day.

I told the characters involved with demo derby cars they where environmentalists and didn't
even know it--tree huggers actually. For the simple fact they have fun trashing these old boats
then turn them into scrap. Roving the rural areas cleaning out old rotten mouse infested land
yachts. The New Yorker I'm removing the 383 from sold with no motor or trans for $900.00.
The top/best demo cars #1 early 60's Chrysler Imperial, #2 Suicide Door Lincolns, #3 60's/
70's Cadillac's, #4 mind 60's Chrysler New Yorkers.
