    Hydraulic filter problem

Its def just a regular screw on filter. Changed it on my super k with no problem so hopefully its just spinning within the filter itself like the guys above are saying. Also was nice to know you don't have to drain the hyd tank to change the filter. Only a small amount will continue to drip...

1992 Case 580 SK fluids, equipment?

I have a super k too and even tho I havent owned it that long Ive done enough research and most people will tell you to never use anything else but hy trans in the transaxle. And for the hydraulics, tractor supply universal premium hydraulic oil will be fine. The hy trans would be a better oil...

    Hydraulic cylinder seal

So Ive done like 8 cylinders so far on my 580 super k and all Ive used is a pick set/ some fine emery cloth/ and a hammer with a aluminum rod used to install the wiper seal. Ive never had a problem installing the main gland seal, and never needed the special fold over install tool.

    Case 580K Neutral start switch

Caseman580superk, I have a super k too and the thing refuses to start with the key as well. It actually was a bit intermittent at some point, but mostly wont start from key. The previous owner wired up a separate two wires to the ether start button, and that is used to start the machine every...

Attaching Thumb (Excalibur 36") to Case 580k - can you weld to ductile steel?

Tinkerer, that TRK hydraulic thumb looks real nice. I was on their website checking out more photos of it too. They have a manual version that looks similar. Too bad they don't make this thumb anymore tho. Says they stopped making them. I wonder why.

Attaching Thumb (Excalibur 36") to Case 580k - can you weld to ductile steel?

Very nice looking 580K Alaska! You got all the options, and a lot will tell you the series 1 580K is great cuz some of the shuttle/transaxle parts I guess are much cheaper to replace than the series 3

Wait for them to blow, or preventive maintenance hydraulic hose replacement?

Cool deal guys. I got some good info. No real consensus on when to change them but I'm gonna use my own judgement on changing these things out. I'm thinking I'll def change out 2 or 3 of the worst right now.

Attaching Thumb (Excalibur 36") to Case 580k - can you weld to ductile steel?

Why would it not be holding up? Sounds like there is a point ur trying to make? Or something related to the ductile iron talk previous in the thread? The extendahoe on case 580's is mild steel. Zero issues welding on a thumb. End of debate. Now, if you don't have extendahoe on a case 580, dont...

Wait for them to blow, or preventive maintenance hydraulic hose replacement?

I was at napa today returning these hoses that I posted about in my other thread and one of the older guys at the counter said he worked for the railroad and had a machine catch fire and burn completely up because a hydraulic hose blew lol. I guess that really only happens if there is some...

Wait for them to blow, or preventive maintenance hydraulic hose replacement?

JDT4430, yea say I go over to a buddys house down the road to do some work, I cant imagine what kind of fines I would incur if I leaked hydro fluid all over the road. Ive also already started collecting plugs and caps randomly, and it wouldnt be a bad idea to keep them with the backhoe so you...

Wait for them to blow, or preventive maintenance hydraulic hose replacement?

Yea pretty much a hobby/backyard user. But I was considering maybe by the end of the year, or after i get some skills with this thing, forming a side business with it. It would basically be just picking up jobs where I can road it to the jobsite in my town since I don't have a 20K trailer. I...

Wait for them to blow, or preventive maintenance hydraulic hose replacement?

Whats up gentlement, so in reference to my case 580 super k im wondering when you guys reccomend changing out hydraulic hoses? Anyone change them out before the leak/blow? Or do most people just wait for the leak? Most of the hoses on this backhoe the rubber is dry rotting/ cracked, even if...

Replacing all hydraulics hoses with Cloth protective covering?

Tinkerer, prob not, but IDK I just gave them the old ones to match up. If I take them back, I kinda dont care about re using anything, I'm just going to ask them to remake with new everything...

Replacing all hydraulics hoses with Cloth protective covering?

You sound like you have authority on this, so I'll prob still take them back, but part of me wants to experiment a bit and see how long they last...

Replacing all hydraulics hoses with Cloth protective covering?

Well, IDk. I'm gonna have these put back together in two days so if there are more opinions on whether I should take them back or not, please speak up. I guess my main concern is not a instant failure, of course that would suck taking the extendahoe back off... but its a failure in a year or...
