    Rebuilt 580B shuttle, new problem

Pulled the shuttle relief valve back out of it. Spring free length measured within spec, and it had the 0.021" + the 0.042"shim in it. So with the note in the manual that the .021 shim raises pressure 5psi and the .042 shim 10psi, I turned bar stock into a .230" shim (should have added 40 psi...

    Rebuilt 580B shuttle, new problem

Back to life. Unknown shuttle temp - Ambient was 80F & sunny yesterday afternoon, fast idled it for 10 minutes or so to warm up. Had 150psi at port C at idle in neutral, fwd or rev. Added rpm (tach is broke) and it didn't move past 150psi -> relief has to be opening, yes? When I had the shift...

    Rebuilt 580B shuttle, new problem

Merry Christmas all. I have a 580B w/ diesel & Twin Disc. I had a super soft reverse (fwd worked fine), did all the standard issue stuff - changed fluid, filter, drilled & tapped for pickup screen, flushed, etc. Pressures at A and C ports we within spec, the B port plug was sheared off flush...

    580B - Twin disc rebuild/piston travel question

Hi all, Finally got around to getting this thing back together. The faces on both hubs of the shuttle were not even close to being flat/true, so into the lathe they went. Around .035" cut on the reverse hub, and .020" on the fwd hub. So, I'm now measuring/stacking the discs and the manual...

    3D printed tool

Hey bud, would you be willing to share the 3D file? I'm in process of rebuilding mine and came on here to see what others may have done to get that goofy nut out, never thought to print one, I was going to mill one.

    580B Twin disc shuttle disassembly

The manual I have shows both Rockford and Twin Disc - it's definitely a twin disc based on the parts coming out of it. Now that I've got a fresh look at it, I'm not going to be able to press the reverse basket off with the clutch discs & pistons with it (as I was attempting). What's the smart...

    580B Twin disc shuttle disassembly

Based on what I see, I should be able to push the whole shebang off the end of the shaft, correct? I ask because I had it in the 20 ton press earlier and bent my press plates without anything moving. Also - whoever put that together had a steel plate against the piston ‍♂️.

    Backhoe gear oil mess

Yeah, putting a lean-to addition onto the side of the shop so it'll at least be out of the rain. If lumber doesn't come down in price, I may just build the frame out of steel, it'll probably be cheaper

    Backhoe gear oil mess

It's not missing but more than likely not water tight, if new ones exist, I'll replace it. I split the tractor (needs a shuttle rebuild), the manual shows a double seal arrangement on the transmission input shaft but there's only one in place. It seems pretty old/stiff, no obvious problems...

    Backhoe gear oil mess

Case 580B I use at home, so minimal use & lots of sitting in Pennsylvania. Oil was drained/replaced spring last year, nothing terrible then, just old and some moisture. Standard issue 80/90 gear oil. I’m in process of splitting and found this mess, seems to have separated & the yellow dropped...

    580b shuttle ID assistance

Hi all, New to the machine I picked up a few weeks back and I’m ironing out it’s issues - main one being that reverse is very soft. Took off the cover to ID which shuttle I have but it’s not apparent to me, can anyone lend a hand? Rockwell or twin disc?
