    Need a bucket for trenching

My 30" bucket does not have teeth. It is a straight edge bucket that I assumed would not be good for trenching in harder dry sub soils with some shale and rocks. I think its more designed for ditching. There are no soft loamy or sandy soils where the machine gets used ( personal farm use ).

    Need a bucket for trenching

I need to purchase another bucket for my JCB 8029 mini excavator. I have some 4' deep trenches to dig and feel that my 12" bucket is too narrow and my 30" trenching bucket is too wide. What width bucket would my machine handle and give me enough room to work in the trench. I am not a big guy. I...

Best way to trailer a mini x, facing forward or backward?

So it seems that I need to price the front and rear glass on my machine to see which glass is the cheapest to replace. Easiest to replace might be a factor also. Loading on my trailer is real easy either way since it is a 23' with 8' fixed and 15' tilt.. Thanks for the replies.

Best way to trailer a mini x, facing forward or backward?

I see mini x's trailered facing forward and rearward and always wondered if one method was preferred or if it made no difference at all. Assuming of course that trailer length was sufficient to get the proper tongue weight. What do you guys do and why?

    Fire Extinguisher

I mounted my extinguisher in the corner of the door hinge so that it was accessible after I had exited the cab. Seems to be a great spot in my machine.

Where to mount a fire extinguisher on U55-4 Kubota?

I mounted my extinguisher in the corner of the door so that it was accessible after I had exited the machine. Seems to be out of the way and has been no problem so far.

    Mice Issues

I have had poor results with the glue traps in the winter which is the time when mice are a problem for me. Machine sits all winter loaded up with a cab full of mouse traps. I have seen no sign of mice this winter. Keeping my fingers crossed. Oh by the way that tilt meter is not installed...

    Extended Warranty ?

Thinking about getting an extended warranty for my compact excavator. My use is for personal farm, forest use, no commercial use. I can get full coverage or just powertrain and hydraulics for less money. My machine is tier III so much less complex than tier IV. Not likely to ever max out hours...

    Online service manuals?

Hi John Thanks for the links. It appears that I just received the same manual from a E-Bay seller in Great Britain. My manual has the same number. I think it is a reprint of the actual oem book. The engine section is only a couple of pages with a few basic specifications. The last page lists a...

Dig with the blade in front or back?

The reason I asked the original question is because I am totally new to excavators and their operation. This is my first experience with one and I plan on keeping it as trouble free as possible. I grew up operating tractors but that was a long time ago. I presently own a jd 5210 mfwd, jd350...

Dig with the blade in front or back?

I have seen operators of compact excavators dig with the blade in the front and with the blade in the rear. Which way is easiest on the machine drive motors? Does the weight of the machine make a difference? My machine is 6300 #. I am digging out some stumps which is working the machine pretty...

    Online service manuals?

I am looking to purchase a service repair manual for my JCB 8029CTS excavator. My machine came with the owner's manual and the parts book at the time of purchase from the dealer. I have no experience with these types of equipment so feel that a service manual would be a good asset to have in...

    Fitting ID

Well the tech showed up this morning and repaired the leak. The fitting was fine but the o-ring was in bad shape. He replaced it with a new one and then he had me cycle the thumb fully open and closed a couple dozen times. NO LEAKS. The fitting looks just like the picture posted by heymccall. I...

    Fitting ID

Yes Tags you are right about the mark being black paint that bled under the masking tape. The thumb bracket was welded to the stick and then painted black. The picture I posted shows both ends of the hose that is bent like a hairpin. When the thumb is operated to each end of its stroke the hose...

    Fitting ID

I am located in New York State, USA and the machine is a JCB 8029 with less than 100 hours. The machine came plumbed for the auxillary circuit and the thumb was dealer installed. I checked the size of the nut behind the washer and it takes an 11/16 wrench. The hose side of the elbow thread...

    Fitting ID

Can anyone ID this fitting for me. It is attaching a hydraulic hose to the cylinder of my excavator thumb. There is a washer between the nut and the cylinder end cap that I think might have a o-ring sandwiched in there. That area appears to be the source of my leak. Not sure if it is a o-ring...

    Bucket Class Chart?

Thanks John. You have confirmed what I suspected that the weight of the machine had a lot to do with things. I will check out the Bobcat site.

    Bucket Class Chart?

Excavators are new to me and while shopping around for used buckets I have noticed them sometimes listed as a certain class of bucket which does not seem to be a width referance. Is there any kind of chart that offers more info. I have a new JCB 8029 which weighs about 6300# with the JCB manual...

Best position to haul my mini excavator?

Thanks for the tips on hauling the machine. You guys brought up a couple of concerns that I had not thought of. I don't use my trailers once the roads get salted but my farm is on a dirt road that is mostly gravel and plenty of fair sized rocks. Also the machine is 8' high and sticks up above...
