Cylinder rebuild cost at local shop

He did say he had trouble getting the bolt off. And he used a giant pipe wrench to take off the cap instead of the tool for it... So my nice yellow cylinder has big gouges on it now... Whatever I guess.

85 an hour and he said nothing about honing.

Cylinder rebuild cost at local shop

Just a note... A new cylinder is 1200-1300 so if I had to pay a grand for rebuild I would just go new I think.

Cylinder rebuild cost at local shop

Ok guys.. Thanks for your responses.. I will definitely try it myself next time.. Undoing the big bolt is the only hard/impossible part from what I've seen. My son in law did his swing cylinders himself on his 580k in an afternoon.. Smaller cylinder though. You guys make me feel better about...

Deere 310d return to dig bar bending

So.. I think the problem is that the aggressive lift of the bucket steals pressure from the tilt cylinder and doesn't allow the tilt cylinder to operate and so if it don't dump the bar has to bend..

Cylinder rebuild cost at local shop

So the dipper cylinder on my deere 310d backhoe needed rebuilt so just figured I'd avoid the hassle and pay up to have the local tractor shop do it. Rebuild kit was 100 bucks... Labor.. 400 bucks. Total 500.. Holy crap... Is that a normal price or is that aBout 200 bucks too much?

Deere 310d return to dig bar bending

Thanks for your help.. So... All my pivots are moving smoothly. But what I did notice is the pivot at the cab was hitting its stop before the linkage was forcing very much dump lever action. I think this was limiting how fast the dump could actuate and wasn't giving it time to move before...

Deere 310d return to dig bar bending

This shows the down linkage and the pull off plate that forces the stick out of roll back. https://photos.app.goo.gl/EFKbLMEJdT3wF4Q56

Deere 310d return to dig bar bending

This threaded end isn't supposed to be bent. Should be straight with the bar. https://photos.app.goo.gl/YoKqJTfL6YxktiFL7

Deere 310d return to dig bar bending

Picked up a 94 310d and noticed the return to dig bar at the threads was bent. I heated it and bent it back and all functions seemed to be restored. Later I noticed the bar got bent again. Turns out when the loader is all the way up and rolled back the bar will bend. Looks like it's counting...

    First Dump Truck International 4900/466

Thanks everyone for your input....I have always been inclined to not shy away from vehicles that need some repair...did that with my backhoe...found out fast the "some repair" can add up to thousands in heavy equipment like this. I'm still on the fence on this truck...at 6K it seems like...

    First Dump Truck International 4900/466

I plan to retire and use my 580sl for digging work. I need something to haul the backhoe around and I'm looking at this 1996 international dump truck 4900/DT466. It has 280K and was a county plow truck. I know nothing about trucks and first glance this seemed cheap at 6300 bucks. Ten tires...

    newbie needing backhoe purchase advice

From what I have heard, priority swing was on case 580(s)L series 1 and maybe not the entire run. No series II models had it. Case did a recall on them and was changing them for free so I wonder how many are out there? Anyone care to correct me. I dont know any of this from experience so it...

    case 580 SL

Practice I think. Once you know what it takes to do it, you will figure out how to do it smoothly with practice.

    Too Good to Be True?

wow, that sounds like a great deal you got. Good tires, extra hydraulics and forks included it sounds like you got that about $7K off what a good price would have been.

What to look for when buying a used machine

Yep, you should rent...but if you have your heart set on it...lots of people have spent lots of money on worse things... :-) My opinion is that you should get a mini excavator and a bobcat with tracks. You can move them on a car trailer, you dont need a huge vehicle to pull with and they do...

What to look for when buying a used machine

1 ton truck is minimum legal I've heard. Trailer would be good for at least 16000 lbs. Gooseneck probably with your 1 ton.

What to look for when buying a used machine

Oh, just remembered...I think the price I got for two rear tires was more like 1700. Bucks not 3000 as I said. I was just doubling what I remembered. Sorry for the confusion. In my limited experience, actually owning one I ha e learned so much that I wish I had known before I bought. If...

What to look for when buying a used machine

What you need to find is a machine from someone you know or trust who will be straight with you on any issues. Or find an guy with a backhoe who spent the money and did all the repairs to bring his machine back to "tight" condition. I doubt "that guys" could ever get his money back on those...
