Cat 277 Aux Hydraulics modulation speed

Thanks John C. That was the direction I was heading, just wanted to make sure it was as simple a adding flow restriction without doing any damage to the pumps or hydraulic system.

Cat 277 Aux Hydraulics modulation speed

Thanks Nige. Correct, I don't believe this machine has proportional control. A1 and A2 feels like a simple switch that activates a valve on and then the valve closes when released. Has anyone tried using a hydraulic flow restrictor to alleviate the quick movement? Any possible problems with...

Cat 277 Aux Hydraulics modulation speed

Recent addition to the fleet is a 2003 Cat 277 MTL. I just hooked up a grapple bucket and the hydraulics work using the upper buttons on the right hand joystick. Problem is Aux hydraulics may be working to well as the grapples move extremely fast. Is there a way to modulate or slow down how fast...

    Couple of questions on 963B

You are correct. Green Marine and Kleen Green are a couple of examples of environmentally friendly hydraulic oil but I'm guessing it doesn't meet the specs for the HPCU. Will send a sample out to the lab and report back with results.

    Couple of questions on 963B

Great info as always on the forum!! The mechanic helping me with this machine said the same thing about the lift arm pins. I just didn't think they would make a pin you couldn't grease. As for the algae oil, there's now a fresh batch of CAT spec'd hydraulic oil in the HPCU. Hoping not too much...

    Couple of questions on 963B

I think I found all the grease fittings on the 963B but can't seem to find a fitting on the bucket lower arm pins?? The operators manual shows that as a lubrication point. Am I missing something or is it greased with something other than a grease gun? And anyone familiar with a bright green...

Big thanks to the forum for all the help and insight. Was able to narrow the choice down to a Cat 963B and was fortunate enough to purchase a low time 1997 machine. So far so good.

In the market to buy either a John Deere 655/755 or a CAT 953/963. Trying to stay away from model years that have the emission controls. Anyone know what year the emission controls were added?? Any other specific items to look for on those machines. It will be used on a farm for cutting in...

    Help buying an excavator

Have experience with a small John Deere 450 for several years. Have been clearing 20 acres of the farm and think it would be helpful to have an excavator on the farm. In immediate need of a descent stump puller. Property has a typical mix of Pennsylvania hardwood and pine trees. About 40 to 50...
