You would think they would have designed it so you do not have to remove the engine to fix an oil leak out of the park brake. At least it is modular I guess and I can give everything a good clean now.- .RC.

Hard facing grouser lugs
Anyone ever hard faced grouser lugs? Not worth it, or the heat input will destroy the hardness of the plate below the weld, so it wears faster when it gets there so no gain in the end? -

D6D sprocket, track frame alignment question.
On one side the sprocket is not running in the centre of the track frame. It is out from the machine by about half an inch. On the diagonal brace it is also about this much out. Not sure why the alignment is out by such a large amount. The service manual says to remove shims to bring the... -

A way to bodgy up these blade linkages?
These diagonal brace ball joints are worn and the blade slops from side to side. Is there a simple way to get the slop out of the blade. They have been welded up at some point so there is no adjustment. I am not going to be doing any production work. -

D4D brakes redo without removing massive cover
Is it possible to reassemble brakes on a D4D just using the three small access holes? I broke the rear band section, so I managed to undo the bank just using the access holes, and remove the broken band... I have the replacement here and can get it in OK, but I cannot seem to rotate it around... -

Can you successfully weld brake bands?
Have broken a brake band on the D4D again.. At least this time I got it out of the access holes rather then having to remove that huge cover over the clutches/bevel gear compartment. it is a dry back end so three piece brake bands.. This is the second one we have snapped in the past fifteen... -

reliable small/mid sized dozer brand
This year I may be looking for an older small/mid sized machine of around the 140-160hp range... I am not real sure what models to be looking for but would probably be from the 1980's vintage.. While the D6D would probably be one of the better models to choose simply from part availability...
