    F-800 for sale $1200.00

Old and ugly, but runs amazingly well. 7.8 New Holland engine, 5+2 Air brakes. Here's the frame, and one of the tool boxes still on the ground. Here's the truck before I took the old bed off. BTW, It now has a green hood on it, as the white one was cracked all to hell.

    Ratcheting or Snap Binders?

Ratchet binders have their place, and I have a few. I prefer snap binders, but not the normal kind. I have what are called "Safety binders". The handle is free floating, so if it pops loose, the handle won't hurt you, even with the cheater pipe on it. Also, they have a cam action on the release...

    Deck Wood

I guess I'm lucky. There's a guy a couple towns over that has an old saw mill, and he cuts up old telephone poles and rail road ties. Nothing better than creosote to last for ever.

    F-700 have the guts?

I use an F-800 every day. It does great. The only question in my mind would be the gasser. Wait, Check that. A gasser motor means hydraulic wedge style brakes. Bad Mojo. Wedge brakes are high maintenence, and parts are expensive.

    just wondering

I was using a Dodge 3500 CTD 5 speed 4x4. After putting a new rear end, and a new tranny, because of overloading, I sold it and bought an F-800.

    DT-466+F-600=??? will it work?

Well, I'm a hotshotter. I don't generally run that heavy.

    DT-466+F-600=??? will it work?

Ummmm, The title to the F-600 says gcvw 44,000. I despise the ford L series cabs.

    DT-466+F-600=??? will it work?

Well one thing to keep in mind, I'm a VERY large human being. I'm a little over 6'5" and almost 400# IH cabs don't have the leg room I want, or the head room I need. Even my Quad cab dodge is a little cramped. My F-250 on the other hand, is only a single cab, an I fit in it fine. The F-700's...

    DT-466+F-600=??? will it work?

It's not that I have a great love for the 466, that's just what was offered. I don't like the international medium duties. I do like the F series Ford mediums.

A good website for general equipment specs? HALP!!

I didn't buy it, I'm just hauling it. Thanks for the advice guys. Keep it coming!!

    DT-466+F-600=??? will it work?

Yeah, I've pretty much given up the 466 Idea. I have to take the deal on the ford. I'm getting the truck plus three trailers for 5 grand. I have to take it. What I'm currently looking at, is finding another truck that runs good, and keeping the F-600 as a parts truck. At least for the sleeper...

A good website for general equipment specs? HALP!!

I just want to find a good reference source to find weights and dimensions of various machines. the one in question at the moment is a Case IH JX1075C Cab Tractor 4WD with Loader. I can't go by a "customer's estimate". A couple times, I've had a 14,000 pound tractor turn into 28,000 pounds of...

    DT-466+F-600=??? will it work?

Okay, so the deal on the F-800 fell through. I've found an F-600 with a worn out 6.6. Same guy also has a low mileage DT-466 Electronic motor. He's offered me a package deal on the two. Will it work, or am I all wet?

    f-800

My first mods are probably gonna start with a charge air cooler,(intercooler) and maybe propane injection. I'm going to concentrate on power mods that increase reliability. Before I do anything like cranking the bump, I'm going to set it up with a pyrometer, and a boost guage. Once I can...

    f-800

From what I've seen, No. The smaller stuff doesn't allow for the cruise to be used for Idle-up. Now the minute I say that, I'll be proven wrong.

    Dumb accident

First let me say that I AM NOT DEFENDING DAKOTA BOY!!! That said, It is possible to haul in excess of the door sticker safely, with the right training and experience. I'm a hotshotter. I run a one ton dodge and a 53' gooseneck, plated for 45,000 GCVW. (this is being replaces with an F-800)...

    No Chains!?!

I'm a trucker by trade. It does my heart good to read about all of this "Over securing". I'm a bit of a "securement nazi". That's meant to say that I'm anal about making sure nothing EVER moves on my trailer. I've actually been laughed at for over chaining. I just tell them it's insurance. I...
