Vancouver Island, BC. Logging at its Best!

I would wonder how the ship Development would handle a rough crossing! The Province newspaper posted a photo of "Development" and not much of an article about why the ships were being sent to the scrap yard. Were the tugs and barge [ship] so worn out that they couldn't be used any longer...

    Loaders, Limbers and Roadbuilders.

The picture shows the area under the cab riser that was accessible from the side rather than from the rear of the riser. Also the side steps that got up to the cab were a straight step across rather than a step into no mans land. The back stop was angle iron and not a solid back stop. Hard to...

West Coast Logging Camps, Shops, Barges, etc.

I was just on a website "Maritime Traffic" and noticed a ship anchored in Vancouver harbour, "Development Way" that is carrying a self propelled log barge to the scrap yards. "Development Way" is a vessel that can be submerged and then the cargo is loaded and then the vessel is re-floated. I...

    Highway log trucks.

It used to be one hell of a show at the Bayshore when the major players put machines on display. That was back when the Tree huggers were not as active, or maybe the industry wasn't ramping up to logging standards and taking the extra step to show people how the wood got to be ready to assemble...

The painter used a propane torch with a fan type attachment to remove decals, and then thinners to cut the glue residue.

    Help-580CK front spindle bearings!

Also try soaking the spindle down with a penetrating oil, then hitting the side of the arm. Also hitting a wedge between the spindle and the knuckle might get it to break free.

    Service Indicator Reset

The Gmc's with the GM engines were reset by turning the ignition on and pumping the foot throttle 3 times and the light should go out. Don't know how long this fix is good for.

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

Looks like someone took all the parts they needed to get their truck/ trucks mobile and a few parts left over. Appears as though you know where they parked the trucks prior to them stripping them down.

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

The engine has a lot of power, and should be easy to work on as it doesn't require a scanner to diagnose problems. Still lots of these dinosaurs running around, parts maybe tough to find?

    Loaders, Limbers and Roadbuilders.

Looks like the rubber tired skidder got a little too hot.
