580B turns over, but won't start

Hi, I have an older 580B (73) that turns over very well, but won't start. I put new fuel filters on it about 9 months ago, and with the help of a little starting fluid, it started and ran well. Unfortunately, my dad passed away and I lost all interest in the backhoe until a few days ago when I...

    Tire brand

Thanks Colson04! You think 10 ply would be able to handle a loader full of dirt along with the weight of the machine? Thanks again!

    Tire brand

Hi all, thanks for the replies! I am leaning towards the Maxdura 14 ply offered on Walmart and sold by Priority Tire. Supposedly Walmart gives you 90 days to return the tires to the store if needed. They are going for $139 a piece right now! I can't really find a good match width wise that is...

    Tire brand

Hi, need to replace the front tires on my Case 580b. Can anyone recommend a decent brand to buy? Really don't want Chinese junk, but don't want to pay too much either! Just doing light dirt work on my property. Thanks! 11L-16 is the size.

    580b Fanbelt replacement

Thanks! Mine looks bad, but is hanging in there. I'm just wondering if I should attempt to replace it before it breaks? Is 186750M2 the correct belt number? Thanks!

    580b Fanbelt replacement

Hi, do they make a fanbelt for the 580b where you don't have to remove the hydraulic pump? If so, do they last? Thanks!

Case 580B 2 piece to 1 piece cylinder

Hi, thanks for the reply Melben; outside (barrel) is ok. It was the piston that was beat up and had to be replaced! This machine is 50 years old and no telling how many people have done repairs on it. Take care.....

Case 580B 2 piece to 1 piece cylinder

Hi, after getting the rod out of the boom cylinder on my 1973 Case 580b, I noticed that the piston was in pretty bad shape (perhaps the bolt came loose, I don't know). Saw a piston advertised for $98.00 on HWPartstore's website and ordered it. Came very quickly, but to my surprise, it was a 1...

Hi, thanks for the reply. No bad smells or contamination, so I will follow your advice and not change the oil out completely. Thanks!

    split washers

That's true; called them about a swing cylinder seal kit and they said they didn't have it and their system didn't go back as far as the date of my 580b (73). Thanks!
