It took a little longer than I thought but I finally got the new fenders today. Welding shop did a great job on them. I have some holes to drill yet but it shouldn’t take long to get them on the truck 
to check the fit and adjust as necessary. Once I’m finished with that I’ll take the hood off and get the rusted square tube replaced along the bottom where the piano hinge attaches.

I have 3 jobs still to do on the truck..1st one is finish the A/C..I need to change the bracket on the engine (drain coolant),mount the compressor and get all the lines made and get it charged up
2nd job...Install the driveline (disc) brake and get it hooked up to the original e-brake handle in the truck.
3rd..pull the front springs out and get two leafs (mine are only 2) added to them...
Pulled the fender off today and got started on the A/C...As I figured I will have to make a new cross over pipe for the coolant..
Bracket for the A/C is mounted and the compressor is on..Brkt on the left is the new one.
The braided hose will get fixed as well...

This is the current set up on the front.Bags have 17 1/2 psi in them.In my opinion (not a expert on air bags) that's probably to much.I also think the bags are extended to much and the back side of the spring appears to be bending down.Axel has rotated to about 6-7 deg of caster..All the trucks I have seen have 4 leafs in them.Art in Sayward says he truck drives just fine.I find mine is twitchy in the corners and leans to much on the front..Will sent some pics of his front springs and Mcallister is going to build the other two leafs.for me..Its a experiment but I feel I have nothing to lose...

Yanked the springs out today...Lots of set up to hold the truck up,hold the diff up and stop it from rotating.Other than the set up it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.Hopefully I can get the springs over to Mcallister next week..All the parts will get detailed again before I reassemble it.Then back onto the A/C...

After a couple of weeks of e-mails about my springs Mcallister will build them next week.They have been very good about this project and very helpful.They are adding two 9/16 x3 leafs to each pack..
I will no longer be bolting the bag mount to the spring.I came up with a saddle to sit on the springs and float.I will have anti squeak pads between the saddle and the spring.
Grizzly offset the bags on the frame a little bit (????) and that math was lost on the spring mounts.The right side was close but the left side was way off as it appears they built two rights...I have corrected all of this and the bags should be 90 deg in both directions now..

Mcallister tells me I should have my springs back this week.I got my spring anti-squeak pads today in the mail.They are supposed to be 3" wide but only if you use a framers tape measure..Some trimming required.You drill a 9/16 hole and tap them in place....I have everything ready now.Just need my springs and some dry weather (don't we all).......
On a side note....I remembered a few days ago I buckled both my sway bar link rods a while back.I wrote it off to length vs diameter but now I think it was just leaning way to hard on the springs....Just a thought,

Got my springs yesterday (Friday)...They certainly look up to the task.
Comedy of errors after that....They forgot to send my small/sample parts back..I wont get the stuff till next week..
I had them dip the springs in their paint tank and it bubbled up/lifted all the enamel paint I had on my springs..I had to scrape it all off and start over again..
Some how who ever bent up the new u- bolts put the wrong mandrel in so my u-bolts are wrong...Mine are shallow semi round and I got high semi round.I find the u-bolt mistake funny as they had me sign off on the drawing for the u-bolts......**** happens.
Maybe I can install them next weekend....

After much thought (and whiskey) I finally came up with a plan...I always knew I wanted some sort of retaining device to stop the air bag mount from lifting off (not that it would) I also realized my limiting straps for the bags are useless with out one...
This is what I came up with...There is just less than 1/8 clearance on the bottom so no risk of binding...

First load of parts was dropped off for powder coat this morning, I’ll drop the hood off with the welder this afternoon to get a couple of small parts of the frame repaired. The inside of the hood was covered with rubber coating as well but it came off pretty easy. Metal underneath is still in pretty good shape.
Work has started to take the front axle out for cleaning, paint, new kingpins/u-joints, reseal and rebearing.

Good to see the progress Will...Your front bumper is identical in construction to mine but looks a little deeper..I believe your truck came with a winch tho..I see other things very similar to mine in construction...It looks like they covered your firewall in that rubber crap...(that sucks).

And me ???? Put the front suspension back in today..Everything went well other than the fact I had to machine (I have a lathe at home).030 off the dia of the center pins in the springs..I really should have measured them but I stupidly assumed....
It looks better and has less air in the front bags to obtain my height...I think I have it a little to high on the front right now so it will just get better..I have to fix the lower rad connection as my A/C compressor changes things..Then I can pull the truck out and set the height..
My air bag sliders will find "home" after I drive it and it scuffs the paint off...
Still feel I am going in the right direction..

Your new springs look great!
My bumper did have a winch. It was pretty old and seized but I have a new Warn winch for it that I installed and removed before taking the bumper in for powder coat.
I’m going to do this set of parts in a semi gloss black with a little bit of texture to it. A friend of mine used the same product on a bush bumper for his truck, it looks great and stands up really well.
The firewall is covered in the rubber crap but that is the last of it, I won’t be sorry to see it all go!

Thanks......I have a 1936 Diamond T and there is a truck load of parts on that truck that I had powder coated...All in semi gloss black...It still looks good and is easy to clean...
I did my fenders,tailgate and bumpers on the Grizzly in semi gloss black epoxy....semi gloss black goes good with everything..
I look forward to seeing your stuff all coated..

The turbo intake piping on your engine makes me think it was a intercooled engine when new.....
Keep up the good work..One day we will get the first truck and the last truck together for some pics...
