Good eye...The truck actually had them in it but they were all faded so I bought new ones.Very much reminds me of Pacific..
Certainly isn't a anti-theft device..
Did Hayes use the that style of dash screw ????

Mirror switch had to be turned side ways to clear the idiot light.Things were getting tight.Switch and light are for the heated mirrors.

I thought something like that when I saw the switch position, Sometimes we got to do what ever we can to make things work, Fine tune after, only as a matter of convenience. Our problem is, WE are our own worst critic's. LOL. And no, Hayes did not use the screws. The Hayes dash on HD through WHDX were all screwed on in one piece. Whenever you do anything on the engine side of the dash ,It is all by memory and the brail method. First thing you do is remove your wrist watch. Then reach in and fix whatever needs attention. After you are finished then look around to see what wires you inadvertently brushed off.

Giggling to myself as I read your post.I know it all to well..Just put a new(read modern) gauge cluster in a 49 Merc pick-up.Lots of I can feel but I sure cant see it work...

Yes I am my own worst critic..I am also trying to keep the one off idiosyncronisities of this truck intact....some days are Tylenol days
You are very correct....fine tuning will come later

Just out there with this one Cory ,but, one of our guys is searching for an old 1 1/2 ton truck to redo. He kind of gravitated towards a mid 40's to early 50's truck he can toy with and then haul all his artifacts to shows with. Maybe keep your peeper open OK This guy is top drawer and whatever he get's will be probably taken to his usual high level of attention. LOL Remember we are squeezing every nickel till the beaver craps before he spend it.

I just remembered a friend has a 46/47 Maple Leaf truck sitting in his yard.He bought it with great intent and there she sits.Currently sitting on a 1 ton chevy chassis with a small block engine.Cab is/was/has been converted to a extended cab..Its at the point where you just do what you want..The work was done by some one back east.
I have called him for some details..

Still waiting on the interior guy.Not much has progressed on it in the last week or two.
I have finished with the stereo install other than hooking up the speakers and that will wait till the interior is in.I have the onboard GPS all hooked up and working as well as the rear mount camera.I need to get a antenna for the radio. It had a post one on top of the cowl that leaked really bad..I am thinking a side mount one on the flat side of the cowl.Maybe a old school 2 mount one like the vintage car and VW bugs used...

Turn signals once again drove me crazy..I could not get them (all LED) to even attempt to work.I bought some Grote LED flashers and still nothing.I traced everything and found nothing.I finally unplugged one light and put my test light on it..Nothing...I then unplugged the LED flasher and installed a std one and the signals worked with the test light..I need more load on the system to get them to flash..I have to add some std bulbs to the system to draw some power..
There were some holes in the back for some screw on reflectors so I mounted some new (old stock metal ones)grote lights and wired them into the system. Then installed my preferred Tridon HD mechanical flashers and everything works fine. Not sure if I like the lights but I honestly was out of ideas..I can always change them...I know they make load resistors for the LED lights but I was trying to avoid it.Each light has 2 little bulbs and easy to service and moniter..
Better or other Idea's are welcome...Flashing blue or red sex lights under the dash would work but probably not a good option...

And once again I see my can of never seize has photo bombed one of my pictures

Hey BP...If you mean across the back it would certainly balance things out ...but these lights will be flashing left or right so a center mount would be tricky..Interesting thought.I have more of these lamps and will play with ideas tomorrow..

This may be redundant, but when I was having flasher issues with my CAT 212 grader and it's LED turn signals, I learned about electronic flashers that are rated for LED lights. I put one in and it worked. I also had issues with the combination turn/brake /tail lights LED lamps. I had wired the tail lamp to the turn signal pigtail and the turn signal to the tail light. I had lots of tail light but no turn signal. taking things apart (again and again) I noticed that the Grote LED lamps are "task specific." Once I traded leads on the LED pigtail everything worked fine. That was the first combination LED lamps I had hooked up that way and it was frustrating trying to trouble shoot it With my eyesight, I almost didn't see the embossed details, it was just the tipping of the lamp in the right light that I saw them.

Again, this may be redundant.

Hey Jumbo....all my lights are Grote and I bought 2 Grote LED flashers so in theory it should work.I have heard of other people having issues with LED flashers.I checked my lights and I have them wired correctly.Like you said tho they are wire sensitive. The 2 wire lights cant be wired backwards and white is ground...This LED stuff is all new to me.
In the end I am happy to have the good old HD Tridon flashers in the truck.Nice steady beat and loud enough to hear...
I actually thought I had had enough fun trying to get the headlights to work properly..

Interior guy came by today with the back panel. His stuff is precision fit and he doesn't like to put screws through the panels so they have Velcro on the backs to the steel frame work.Panel has tabs on the side for a tight fit and alignment of the next panel.
He even put a surround pc in so you don't see the rear window frame work
I am just letting him do his thing.
Color is the same as the roof but flash and camera angle make it look different..Thats both the large panels done now...

Thanks.....Fired the truck up today.I haven't had it running for 4-6 weeks as I was doing other things on it..Truck fired up instantly..Here it is running with the nose on and smoke migrating out of its den...
It was nice to hear/smell it running again..
