    Case 580B transmission question

Thanks, I have the manual. What I do not have is an operating manual. So I do not know for sure how everything works. Trying to decide if there is a downside to draining the hydraulic fluid out of the transmission and putting in gear oil? I am guessing that my tractor is the shuttle without...

    Case 580B transmission question

Hello All, I think that I have the shuttle model. It has a lever on the left side of the steering column for forward, neutral and reverse. It has dip sticks in front of the seat and between the clutch pedals and brake pedals for the transmission and torque tube. The previous owner told me...

Case 580B CK loader arm/frame bushings

Want to bump this thread. I have exactly this problem on the same tractor. Case 580b. Any further reports from someone fixing this problem. Looked for the pin and bushings at EPS Parts store but they only have them for starting at 580c. Would this be something that a line boring person...

    Winter Operations

Just checked the manual, original tire size is 16.9-24 previous owner put 17.5-24 so that reduced the clearance.

    Winter Operations

On another subject. Case 580B, 17.5-24 tires. Looks to be about 3/4 inch clearance at the stabilizer mount bracket. Will chains fit? Problem now is mud but soon will be snow/ice. Just discovered that there are many choices.

    Winter Operations

Cleaned the cable at both ends and put it all back together with new battery and the cheap alternator. Started right up and charging at 14 volts. Ammeter still works. Will see about moving the excited wire to the ignition switch, right now direct to the battery.

    Winter Operations

Franklin2, it has a battery switch because the previous owner said that he was draining the battery while machine not in use. He could not find the problem so he isolated the battery. I do the same on my boat because I might leave the nav lights on or a kid might come along and turn on a bilge...

    Winter Operations

The battery started it for six months with only two charging periods. Perhaps the alternator did a little but I never saw more than 12.5 volts at any rpm.

    Winter Operations

My 580B ran great all summer. As it started to get cold, not even going below freezing at night, I started to experience the hesitation to move before warmup. Also started to have battery problems. Battery at least siz years old and alternator hasn't worked in a long time, never since I've...

    Case 580 Boom Lock

I have read on the forum about the boom lock and watched the Youtube videos. By backhoe is kind of loose. There is play in all the bushings that I can see when it is working. Also as I mentioned in another thread, if I select down boom, it falls rapidly. I am thinking that the rapid falling...

    Boom falling fast question

David did you solve your boom falling problem yet? I have a 580b. I think it digs pretty strongly, has no problem lifting full buckets with the boom. But it definitely has a fast drop on the boom if I forget to be easy with it. I will check the flow restrictor. The B port is the lower one...
