It was in 1972 I believe the year of the fallers Strike when they went from being payed by the board foot to the day rate. The Scalers had the choice of being broken in as a faller or using their senority to bump into another job.It was a long strike for them as they did not want the day rate for most partThese pictures don't have any machines in them except for the faller and scaler lol ( Dad alway told me to let the machine do the work , only problem was he thought i was the machine HEHE ). i was wonder if someone could tell when the scalers left the bush and started to scale on the flat and sometimes paved sorts on the B C coast
