A modernized hall Scott probably could get in the 4-6 with today's trucks

Perhaps you saved him a ton of money and dissapointment. Change is tough and you did him a favor with that direct approach. The only thing you could really add is a fuel injection system---already had a mag ignition
plus overhead cam. For that bore and stroke pretty hard to squeeze more than 3.5 mpg.
Large displacement Gas ICE power that gets any sort of mileage, is about as likely as a
piece of used toilet paper being handy to reuse.

I remember years back a shop I worked at--customer had a 76 Ford 4x4 150 with a 390.
He wanted it rebuilt, plus aim for 17 to the gallon with some changes. My reply was this
engine has a 4.050 bore with a 4.00 stroke and not great intake system, it's only mission
is to eat gas, more gas and have little baby 390's.-----He just stood there looking like
someone had pissed in his camp fire.
The donor is clearly going to the scrap heap. I think that nose could be salvaged with a hot saw and it is really an art deco work of art from the front. Put it inside on a big shop wall.Decided to add some extra attention lights, same brand as the amber Aero Star. I like rotating
emergency lights over the strobe LED type. Both of these were in nice condition and were the
exact size I've wanted. $150 for both, a newer similar is $350 each. And the donor truck.

Water pump for fires is what's wrong with it, it has a hydraulic ladder. The 8V71 and Allison in itThe donor is clearly going to the scrap heap. I think that nose could be salvaged with a hot saw and it is really an art deco work of art from the front. Put it inside on a big shop wall.

That one style above is a Unity light housing which houses the standard 5.75 work lightI wonder if Aviation has gone to LED Landing lamps yet.
