I am not 100% sure but the problem with the Wharerata is there are multiple owners, I am pretty sure HFF are harvesting a portion for the local Iwi, JNL have a portion that is in the process of a treaty settlement? and then there are all the smaller blocks?? But all up there are possibly 100 plus people get out of bed every day and head up there to work!!! Between the Loggers, Truckers,Roading,Forest Managers and Siviculture that one Forest is a big employer on the East Coast.

I Know of 2 Machines up North of the Bridge. One is a TY90 Serial# 9058, a very nice Machine. I have some awesome photos of this Yarder working. The other is way up Spirits Bay

9058, that's probably the unaccounted for TY90 that we have been looking for in NZ - do you have any ownership/history details.
Is the Spirits Bay machine a TMY 50.

Colin Rosewarne owns this TY90. He also runs a TMY70. The TMY90 further north is owned by Peter Mold. Will get serial# when im talking to him next. Paul Olsen also has a TMY90 working in the BOP. I beleave there is another 90 on the water to go to work up North.

I have a question for Contract Logger/Rusty Grapple,I was just looking at some pictures of Thunderbird yarders an I know that there were only 2 Thunderbird TT-90 built but I saw pictures of them at Papac,Nygaard and Hopkes Logging, now I know that Paoac bought their machine new and they still have it,but are the Nygaard and Hopkes yarders the same machine that was bought new and later sold or are they different machines because one is marked TT-90 and the other TTY-90.The question might be kinda stupid but when I don't know something i ask.

Thanks for that feed back - am wondering if Peter Mold's 90 might be #9043, ex Tasmania and I think ex Kiwi Logger. Not sure where that one is now. The Spirits Bay TMY 50 I was referring to was one that went to Peter Mold in the mid 90's, #5079 - good to hear he is still going.

There were only 4 TY-80's built. 3 were slackline hoists, and one was a highlead hoist. This one as you can see is a highlead hoist.

Pete Dancer brought a TY80 #8036 down here a few years ago with Thunderbird 840 log loader. The yarder is working up North.
