Like I said. I still doubt you know all the facts.
I read abscraperguy's link and in the commentary at the end, someone was making remarks about the filing of bankruptcy and cat buying this company out of bankruptcy, but it was told before that the business and company were making money, so which is it, was it a thriving financially sound business or did they in deed file bankruptcy and cat bought it out of bankruptcy?
EMD was a subsidary of GM that was making good money, good product and had 7 billion in orders on the books when CAT bought it.
looking for asphalt overlays eastside? no need to look for more!
Politicians will never admit they are wrong international free trade does not benefit Canadians or Americans. Big company profits benefits from international free trade. Now all the manufacturing jobs have gone to cheaper labour with no human rights.

If you're so sure that someone doesn't know all the facts then set the record straight. Your comment doesn't add anything to a discussion. Unless you feel the need to protect Cat then say that. If you have shares in Cat and so want to stand up for Cat because of that don't feel bad. You just made a lot of money this last quarter, in fact Cat says record profits. And with combining all their locomotive plants in Muncie they stand make you a lot more in the future, albeit on the backs of some inconvenienced families. Notice I said inconvenienced. The way Western Canada is booming if people are willing to move there IS work.
Abscraperguy, The reply you quoted was about a Cat dealer, not Cat itself. It was bordering on a hijack, and has nothing to do with what you have been talking about. So don't think that GeoffD was talking to you, it was directed elsewhere.
I only know 1 thing. If you have a job, don't depend on it being there forever. Assume that one day you will have to make your own way, so plan on it. Have an out. Think about where you might be able to go if you can no longer go the job you have, and start cultivating those plans now.
I wish the best of luck to those affected in London.

Some would say that Cat's stance on taking tough decisions early in the piece rather than let the business go down the pan (the Big Three US auto companies would be a typical example) is why they are an extremely successful company rather than an unsuccessful one .......... I wouldn't disagree.
Which are what? To let corporations say we want to sell products in your country but we don't want to support your workforce because we make more profit by dealing with foreign countries that up until a few decades ago wanted to wipe us off the planet? Make some rules that make sense. Not everyone is going to be a stock trader or middleman. Wait till the next election and see how far that "corporations have a right to do whatever they want" philosophy gets you.
